Southern All Stars first original album in 10 years tops charts
Southern All Stars released their first original album in about 10 years, "Budo", on March 31.
The long-awaited album sold 300,000 copies during its first week and grabbed the top spot on Oricon's weekly album ranking. When including their best-of albums, this marks their 17th chart-topping album.
With this album, the band proved their long-standing popularity as they have topped the album ranking for 4 consecutive decades with 7 albums in the 1980s, 7 albums in the 1990s, 2 albums in 2000s, and the latest album in the 2010s. Though 6 solo artists have accomplished the same previously (Tokunaga Hideaki, Kuwata Keisuke, Yamashita Tatsuro, Matsutoya Yumi, Himuro Kyosuke, and Takeuchi Mariya), Southern All Stars is the first one to do so as a group.
"Budo" contains a total of 16 tracks including "Piece to Highlight" -- their comeback single after an indefinite hiatus -- their latest single "Tokyo VICTORY", and more.

Speaking of a long time between albums:
Miki Imai releases first album in 6 years, "COLOUR"
Miki Imai debuted as a singer 30 years ago. Her first original album in 6 years, gColourh, will be released on May 20.
Imai started production on her new album in the autumn of 2014 in her home base of London. She reunited with Chika Ueda, who helped her with several hit songs, after 20 years. An amazing writing team, including Tomoyasu Hotei, Yuho Iwasato, and Kawae Minako participated on the album. She also collaborates with Junji Iwashitari and Sachiko Kumagai for the first time. Simon Hale, a British composer who worked on 4-time Grammy winner Sam Smithsf album, Bluey from the world-renowned British funk band Incognito, and core member of SADEfs band Andrew Hale, also participate. Just as the album title conveys, there are several colors to the album.
The 11-song limited edition will include a DVD of Imaifs first London concert on January 25.
