She did appear in a drama, but that was like 2 minutes or so. Her name was Kumi-chan and her music was always playing in the background. Sounds more like promotion than acting.

She was in Busu no Hitomi Koishiteru. She plays Busu's friend IIRC.

Koda tour likely to proceed as planned

According to Sports Hochi, it appears that Kumi Koda's upcoming tour will go on as originally scheduled.

Due to a controversial statement she made on the radio, Koda has essentially been suspended since early February. She stated last month that she wanted to postpone her tour, but Avex wanted to proceed with it.

As of Friday, Koda issued a serious apology to her fan club members that appears to signal a preparation for her return to work. Tickets have already been on sale, and with the tour's April 12 start date fast approaching, it is very likely that there will be no postponement after all.

Kumi Koda celebrates 10 years with combined new and best album

Pop star Kumi Koda (27) has just started her 10th year since her debut, and she has already announced a new album for next year. In fact, it will be a combined release of her 3rd best album and 8th original album, appropriately titled BEST ~third universe~ & 8th AL "UNIVERSE."

The release consists of 2 discs: one is the 16-song collection "BEST ~third universe~" while the other is a new original album called "UNIVERSE." The latter is expected to contain 13 tracks such as "Lick Me" and her upcoming single "Can We Go Back," including 8 new songs.

The albums will be sold in a standard 2CD edition, a 2CD+DVD edition (expected to include 18 video clips), and a 2CD+chaku-uta edition (which lets the buyer download the chaku-uta versions of all songs on the original album).

BEST ~third universe~ & 8th AL "UNIVERSE" goes on sale on February 3, 2010.

Kumi Koda to release first cover album

Kumi Koda is releasing her first cover album on October 13, titled "ETERNITY ~Love & Songs~." The album will include several famous songs with new arrangements, ranging from R&B to electro to acoustic.

Koda, who is celebrating her 10th anniversary this December, came up with the idea for the album 3 years ago. In February 2008, she started production on it, finding time between her releases and tours to select the right songs, create unique arrangements, and perfect her versions.

Most of the songs on the album are famous hits by artists such as Momoe Yamaguchi, Seiko Matsuda, Akina Nakamori, Hiromi Go, and Anzen Chitai. Koda explained that she had come to love the kayokyoku genre because her mother raised her listening to that music. However, the album will also include the song "0-ji Mae no Tsunderera," originally sung by her sister misono.

Since Kumi Koda seems to spend most of her time in various stages of undress, I think it's a bit incongruous to use the term "cover".
