I'm also having problems with my activation e-mail. Difference is that I never got to activate it... I've tried to resend activation e-mail for several times without succes. As far as I know my e-mail should not block these messages...

Thank you in advance!

There may be a mis-configuration in this area. We'll have to wait until Ruroshin returns so that he could check the settings. He can check the SMTP logs on his server to see if the e-mails from JDorama.com were rejected.
Workarounds:
1) If Genma normally uses an SMTP server elsewhere, he could enable SMTP e-mail in the phpBB General Configuration page by filling in the SMTP server address, username, and password.
2) If SMTP e-mail is already being used by JDorama.com, it's possible that the SMTP server of choice isn't accepting e-mails from JDorama.com for delivery, such as an incorrect username/password setting (if the SMTP server requires authentication), or IP address filtering on the SMTP server. Filtering generally protects SMTP servers from becoming spam relay servers.
Going back to the PHP upgrade... If the problem with e-mail just now started, I put my money on the PHP configuration.

Checked on my side, phpBB's SMTP settings are correct. Indeed, all mails originating from JDorama.com did not reach the receipients, unless the destination is on the originating server itself (that is, i send to [email protected]).
Should be something to do with PHP.. just not sure where. _________________

Have you tried a reverse-IP lookup test on that SMTP server address? If the zone configuration in the DNS for that server address is not configured properly, other ISPs may reject the e-mails seeing the reserve-IP lookups are failing.
For example, let's say you're using an alias name mail.jdorama.com, with an IP address of 10.11.12.13. However, in the DNS 10.11.12.13 is registered as mail.d-addicts.com. I'm not 100-percent positive whether smtp.php in phpBB uses the PHP hardcoded SMTP server name or the SMTP server name given in the phpBB configuration settings. Anyway, if phpBB is issuing a "HELO mail.jdorama.com" SMTP command, and the reverse-IP lookup for 10.11.12.13 returns mail.d-addicts.com, the two names don't match, therefore the receiving SMTP server is going to reject the e-mail. On the phpBB support board, this is a common occurance.
More and more ISPs, including Yahoo and MSN/Hotmail, are enabling reverse-IP lookups so that they can avoid receiving e-mails from SMTP servers pretending to be something else (spoofing).
The tool I use for reverse-IP lookup tests is http://www.dnsstuff.com/ . Second row, middle tool. Put in the IP address of the SMTP server, and then see what name is returned.
Something worth verifying...

I modified the title of this thread from "Help To Activate My Account" to "User Account Help". I checked around for a similar topic like this, but was not able to locate one, and I figured that rather than to create a new topic, I could use this existing one as it was quite close to the concern that I have.
I don't know if I'm losing my mind, but I can't seem to change my avatar picture. I've done this A MILLION times, but tonight, what seemed to be a routine avatar image change proved to be a problem.
After I insert the link in the "Link To Off-Site Avatar", I click on the "Submit" button. The next page that opens up is my profile (again), but there is no error message, so I have no idea what I need to do. So what I'm trying to say is that I can't change my avatar. Am I forgetting to do something? Or is there something wrong with the program?
*edit* Okay, it seems as though I cannot transmit my random avatar link anymore. It won't take my random avatar image link, but it will take a single image link.
The link I'm using now. http://www.uploadit.org/ahochaude///2238.jpg
The link which I want to use http://www.uploadit.org/ahochaude/images.php
The random image link took well before. Any idea why it's not taking now? _________________

Is there any way to rename the extension? I think there should have been an error shown.. just not sure what. Have u tried that on other phpBB boards? |
I do not beleive that I am able to modify the link's extension. I (obviously) am using UploadIt!. It took well before, and I never had to do any modifying whatsoever. I know bmwracer is using the same picture hosting service as I am, but he hasn't changed his avatar in AGES. If he had to do some modifying to the link's extension, then I hope he can advise me on what to do as well.
As far as other boards, I am currently using it on KikuTv.com message board. But as far as the format goes, I'm not sure if they are a phpBB board. _________________
