I was just wondering if anyone is currently watching or has seen this drama.
They started airing it last night in Southern California on KSCI. |
I saw the preview the week before during Trick3, but it didn't catch my interest...

I know! i was crying and thinking "how am i gonna handle this drama if the first episode makes me cry?!"

Sorry sk8erpunkfromCalifornia
I don't have Japanese Text Display Support program on my computer and I also don't understand Japanese language too.
So I can't read your posting.
Sorry.

I lived in Japan last spring and I saw this drama from the beginning. I loved it. It touched me to the heart.
I used to be a volunteer at a children's hospital, and was also a very ill child, so this drama touched on everything I saw and experienced.
I even had the chance to start volunteering at the real hospital this drama takes place in Nagano prefecture.
It is actually very uplifting, especially if you watch it all the way through. These kids go through things adults probably couldn't imagine.
I got a hold of the series at a Japanese store back in Canada where I'm living now, and now I must watch it again because of this thread
Hehe.
Give it a chance, and for anyone who was looking for the songs from the series I have all of them including the BGMs on a seperate album (there has never been a soundtrack released)
Its also based on a book of short stories and poems written by patients in the Nagano prefecture children's hospital.
I'm currently trying to translate this book, if anyone is interested the first poem 'Life' has been translated pretty much.
Heheh, I was really touched as you can see.
PS My signature is from "Life" and my pictures is the teacher and one of the nurses ^^

thank goodness for this thread, i really love this drama.. my parents used to do caregiving jobs @ the hospital, plus i love kid dramas so i gave it a shot, its not boring.. i guess i pretty much appreciate these types of dramas that teachers, doctors, nurses, parents, kids, and life... everyday life... even things I would hate.. it gives you a message about the things you take for granted.. the first 2 episodes was really heavy for me.. i was bawling like a lil kid..
like allanah, i was a weak child too back in the days, i had lung & blood problems.. and i always get sick every xmas when i used to live in PI.. i dont have that anymore till i came here 12 yrs. ago but i still have blood problems.. so this drama sorta relates to me. as for the poem, do you have the actual book for it? im interested of buying it somewhere..
and going out to allanah again, would it be nice if you hook me up with their music? id love to have a copy please.. im also looking for that Ken Hirai's song.. so far im only been listening to Raphael's sample _________________

This drama inspired me to finally write a story thats been in the back of my mind for years. I love it <3
I bawled for hours after the first episode, and had to sit outside and hide from my roomate
There are two books. The first one is a collection of stories and poems written by sick children. I must stress for anyone who has trouble reading kanji it is all written with FURIGANA! (tiny hiragana that help you pronounce the kanji) That just made me so happy.
Then the second one is what the drama is based on. Its the full story. It is also written in furigana, and this is rare, and just made me jump up and down ^^
I saw the books on sale here , and omg i just found a manga based on it. *orders*
I already got back to you, Mixx, but I just wanted to clarify something.
You asked for a Ken Hirai song... there isn't one by him from this drama. Do you mean "Sekai no chushin de ai o sakebu..." ?
I have the song from that by Ken Hirai.
hehe i spent all my money on CDs and movies in Japan
