As I mentioned in the past, of all the emoticons, I think this one offends the most:
And I'm being totally serious.

Here're some to add.. got them from deviantart.com, wonder where can I put any acknowledgements..? But in any case, our smileys had come from so many different sources that its quite hard to know where they originated from.

We've not enough evidence of abuse of these emoticions to rid of them just yet. |
AYE AYE CAPTAIN ....
i think that emoticons are like words in a way, depends on how and when people use it .. just that sometimes they might be misuderstood if u dont know the other person well enough.
misuse -- > MOD TIME as bmw would say ..

Customize my Emoticons allows you to customize your default set of emoticons showing on the left column when posting your messages. Try it out.. I just did it in the few hours I had yesterday.
About the offensive emoticons.. would like to hear from more.. |
Man the customize feature was a great idea . . works excellently .. maybe we can think of some idea to do an img burst so as to display more icons by default and not take too long.

Personally, I feel that the emoticons just help to convey a person's feelings or gestures. If there was any malicious intent, getting rid of the emoticons wouldn't stop them at all.
Perhaps bmwracer was referring to cases where people are offended unintentionally? It could lead to misunderstandings and unwanted fights.
So now the question is.. should they be taken out to prevent such cases, even though they are relatively rare (based on JDorama.com's past).
Regarding the customized emoticons feature, any feedback and suggestions? Instructions clear enough? Not many have been using it yet.
z123_us: Image burst may improve speeds, but each image is animated at different speeds, which makes it almost impossible to have them together. (did I get your point correctly?? ) _________________ @_@ <--- webmaster?

It lies in only the manner that you use them in. |
True, but more times than not, there's only one sole purpose for those emoticons...
Heh, it almost sounds like the NRA's oft-quoted gun control rebuttal: "guns don't kill people, people kill people..."

I agree. It's like using the word "Jap....." Better off to err on the side of caution.....

I say leave 'em in. If you leave them on the "more Emoticons" page, the probability that they will only be used by experienced users is very high. And if experienced users can't use them responsibly, there are bigger problems. As for people taking offense even when none is intended, 1) that can happen no matter what you do, and 2) what the hell are such peole doing using the Internet???
