Law of Temporal Variability

First Law of Temporal Mortality
'Good Guys' and 'Bad Guys' both die in one of two ways. Either so quick they don't even see it coming, OR it's a long drawn out affair where the character gains much insight to the workings of society, human existence or why the toast always lands butter side down.

Second Law of Temporal Mortality
It takes some time for bad guys to die... regardless of physical damage. Even when the 'Bad Guys' are killed so quickly they didn't even see it coming, it takes them a while to realize they are dead. This is attributed to the belief that being evil damages the Reality Lobe of the brain.

Law of Dramatic Multiplicity
Scenes that only happen once, for instance, a 'Good Guy' kicks the 'Bad Guy' in the face, are seen at least 3 times from 3 different angles.

Example: A 'Good Guy' in a drunken stupor being held upside down from a moving vehicle will always hit, and several battalions of 'Bad Guys' firing on a 'Good Guy' standing alone in the middle of an open field will always miss.

Although it seems that this topic was abandonned quite a long time ago, I wanted to add one thing that I have noticed in many doramas:
Have you ever noticed that japanese (above all working poeple) in doramas seem to drink beer (or any other alcoholed beverage) almost everyday?
I know that it is quite typical in japanese society to go to have a drink after work with your collegues, but I just wonder if they really go to drink that often in real life too, or is it only in doramas?
They also drink alone at home.

Some examples are Anego, Damenzu Walker, and I know there are many more, just can't remember them right now.

I don't know about drinking beer almost everyday but it seems like it. I was on a plane a few years back to Japan and saw a few ladies ordering 'Asahi' beer and me and my friend ordered too but it tasted

I guess it was too bitter for me, I can't figure why Japanese ladies like drinking beer so much.

and the youth likes to have karaoke..

How about this one: Whenever someone is hurry and they get to the elevator, they bang on the button 2 or 3 times, if the door doesn't open right away, they start running up the stairs. Which unless you're only going a couple floors from where you are is really stupid. They'd rather climb 15 flights of stairs instead of waiting another 30 seconds for the elevator !!

it not just happen in j-drama but on the other too..

when somebody walking across the street and almost crush by car, the other one that try to save he/she just push the person, but finally they themself became the victim.
why don't just pull the person and both are save...(even in some scene it is imposible)

That is SO true!!! I've always wondered that myself I always have a moment where I kinda seize up when that happens LMAO My hands get like claws and I'm like 'why the hell didn't you get out the way too?'

But this is not restricted to Jdramas.

Wow, I think this is the greatest thread I've ever seen in any drama forum.

The leading lady is almost always a submissive, shy, and unbearably cute japanese girl in her 20s who needs a good looking charismatic guy in his 20s,30s or in oda yuji's case, 40s, to save her from all challenges she faces in her everyday life.

The exceptions to this cliche can be found in the last couple dramas Shinohara Ryoko stars in where the roles are reversed, this in turn has become a cliche as well

LOL, this is good. What about romantic stories whereby one of the leads has to die. >< Just like Korean dramas.

Or, they don't confess their love immediately and it gets draggy till the end of the story. Just like other dramas too.

Cliche? Misunderstandings at important moments. I HATE THESE! Like, the girl is in love with the guy for the entire series, without getting returned feelings. The guy FINALLY realizes he's in love with her. Goes to tell her. She sees something questionable regarding him and therefore her heart breaks. She flees from him.

Like why?!

Mind you, I actually DO like misunderstandings, but only when they're done right, and not when their overdone. Like I can tell HYD 2 will piss me off.
