I had great success with this website. http://www.e-palworld.co.uk/cgi-bin/code.cgi I made several really good penpals who I have still kept in touch with even after a couple of years. There are some Japanese folks here that hang out in the forums of Jdorama.com, if that's what you're looking for. Japanese that are born and raised in America, but still somewhat versed in Japanese culture. Of course, there's also the awesome Betsy Hayashi of Brazil! w00t!

But I think there are only a couple of Japanese folks, that actually live in Japan, presently active in the Jdorama.com forums.
