Press conference.
And here's what they had to say:
On September 27th, Fuji TVfs affiliated TV station KTV held a press conference for their upcoming fall drama eGoing My Homee. The press conference was attended by starring actor Abe Hiroshi, his co-stars Yamaguchi Tomoko, Miyazaki Aoi, Nishida Toshiyuki, and YOU as well as the director Koreeda Hirokazu.
eGoing My Homef is a humorous tale that focuses on the clumsy 45-year-old CM coordinator eTsuboi Ryotaf (Abe) who always seems to be stuck in dilemma, whether that is at home or at his workplace. Over the years he has become estranged with his father, but one day his father needs to get hospitalized and this causes eRyotaf to suddenly face even more difficult questions. All those questions and the various unique people he happens to meet upon this incident, including a race of tiny people called the eKunaf his father claims to have witnessed, change him in a certain way.
Itfs the first time that Director Koreeda (eNobody Knowsf, eAir Dollf) is working on a TV drama. Moreover actress Yamaguchi, who is playing the protagonists wife eTsuboi Saef, hasnft appeared in a drama serial since co-starring alongside Kimura Takuya in the 1996 drama eLong Vacatione (Fuji TV).
Abe stated, gEvery day Ifm getting teased by the female cast members under the instructions of the director.h Abe explained with a bitter smile how he was overwhelmed even by the child actress Makita Aju, gWhen she didnft return my greeting in the morning, I felt depressed the whole day, or when she ignored all my jokes, I wasnft able to recover from that the entire day. Shefs playing with my heart.h
Yamaguchi expressed, gIt really has been a long time for me. Every day feels fresh and exciting.h She continued, gThe script is really interesting and I cannot wait to watch it on TV myself.h
Abe commented about Yamaguchi, gIfm really glad that she has chosen this project for her drama comeback after 16 years. Yamaguchi and I already modeled together and I think that itfS because of her success as an actress that someone with a huge body like me was accepted as an actor.h Yamaguchi replied, gAbe is really charming, even when playing an effeminate man like this one. Each time we meet and each time we exchange words Ifm falling more and more in love with him. I really love you!h
Of course Abe also had a few nice words for her other co-star Miyazaki. He said, gHer acting is so delicate and she has an overwhelming presence.h Yamaguchi added, gMiyazaki is like a fairy. She has that feeling of transparency. Every time I see her, shefs reading something; maybe sitting in the shade of a tree. Shefs so sparkling when shefs doing thatc Beautiful.h
Meanwhile Miyazaki herself expressed, gI could not look at his face when I met Abe for the first time, because his eclean-cut featuresf face made me shy. I was so nervous.h She continued, gYamaguchi and YOU seem so carefree, itfs really amazing. When they are together they are always in a very good mood. Ifm usually a bit of more of a gloomy person, but those two are happy and positive all the time. I think thatfs amazing and I want to become a bit like them as well.h
Itfs also the first time that Nishida is working together with Yamaguchi, but he already worked together with her husband Karasawa Toshiaki and shared a nice little story. He said, gKarasawa and I were once talking about food and I said that itfs very fluffy and soft. He then replied that therefs somebody very fluffy and soft at his home as well. I thought he was talking about Yamaguchi-san, and was looking forward to meet her.h Yamaguchi was clearly embarrassed by that quote of her husband.
eGoing My Homef is going to air its first two-hour long episode on October 9th.
I dun care what's the title or the story. I just wanna catch a glimpse of Yamaguchi Tomoko once again. Wise choice that she's paired with Abe Hiroshi. I can't imagine a Johnny boy being paired with her.

Subs are out on episode 1. Like EstherM said, pretty much just introducing all the characters and figuring out who's who. The character of Abe and Yamaguchi's daughter is a little irritating.
It says the next episode won't air until Oct. 23. I wonder why the delay?

I just finished the second episode. This series is excellent! I'm loving the low-key main characters, the high production values, the slow and steady pace, and the overall aesthetic. But this is just my kind of drama.

Episode 3 subbed is out. I think they're subbing this thing AS it's airing!
Slowly but surely, we're learning more about the characters.

About 1990 there was a movie called 'Avalon'. It was mostly set in the early 1950's and there's a scene where the family gets their first TV set. They turn it on, and there's no programs, just a test pattern. They sit their patiently, waiting for something to happen.
That's where I am with 'Going My Home'. We're seven episodes in and I'm still waiting for something to happen.
I enjoyed every single episode. Sure its slow and plot wise not much is happening but the characters are evolving and the story is slowly progressing. This drama themes family life and it is doing a very good job at this.
