YT,
Hang in there!!!
I was FINALLY able to get subs (thanks to Haruspex) for most episodes (missing a few eps) for season 1 and I am slowly, but surely, working on creating good viewable episodes for all from the original DVDs (BTW...think weeks rather than days, I'm off to Asia/Pacific come Christmas time and likely won't start to upload anything until January when I get back from my vacation).

No they had not. I don't remember if they ever said why not. I think they just lost touch.

Hi Ralph,
What is the matter, no one discussing this series over at the japan-guide.com forum? I am enjoying the series and really glad that Eri finally met Fumiya. No matter what the outcome. I am looking forward to all the twists and turns their journies will take. I also am thoroughly enjoying all of the characters in Ippukan, especially Mariya, the landlady and the elder retired doctor. Ralph I am glad that you recommended this series, especially since it is the only one currently being shown in my area.
Ps. Thanks dochira for the link and helping to get this thread merged.

It seems there are only about 4 of use still chatting on the guide forum. So harriet and I are shopping around for a more active Churasan forum. But I think the problem is the time of day it is shown. I guess no one in NY is home at 2Pm Sunday afternoon.

Hi ralphM,
I know what you mean. I can catch the show only if I rush right home from my buddhist temple in Flushing and I have no other events planned. Which means that all other drivers on the road at that time should watch out for me! LOL! I have caught the show in past few weeks. It is getting better every week. BTW yes the Dad does look like Mortimer Snerd.

Miho Kanno fan but I've really gotten into Eri's story. It's just such a
pleasant drama.
The 2:00 time is a problem, so I tape it and I think
there must be many more people watching because:
A couple months back they shifted the show time because of the
mayoral inauguration coverage. This meant my taped copy missed
the last third of the episode. I sent the station an email complaining
and requesting they rerun the episodes. A few weeks later, they did just
that. Now I don't think a complaint from a single viewer would
cause them to do that so I assume the show has many viewers and a significant number of them complained.
In any case, it was awful nice that they did that. |
Hi johnjean,
Nice to meet you. Yes Entel and WNYE know quite a few of us by heart. When they stopped their Japanese dorama programming after the "NHK Sakura" series ended, they heard from a whole bunch of us loud and clear! Which is part of the reason "Churasan" is on the air now. Our little enthusiatic group was discussing the NHK Sakura series over at japan-guide.com. Have you posted on that MB? If not go to japan-guide. Then Forums. Then World-Wide MBs. Click on Questions. Then in the Entertainment section find the NHK Churasan topic. If it is not showing click on "Show All 852 Entertainment Questions. Would love to hear from you either here or there. Also if you miss an episode someone will usually give you a recap We are a very kind and friendly group.

Hi harriet!
So nice to see you over here at the blue screen MB! How did you know that one of my favorite CDs in Ella Fitzgerald Sings Cole Porter? How kind of you harriet! I haven't been posting much here or at japan-guide for a few reasons 1.) I have been busy 2.) an old friend of mine died suddenly from a heart attack. After hearing that news I haven't felt much like joining in the fun on any MB. So I am trying my best to get back into the swing of things again. Maybe not tonight but I promise that sometime soon I will post my opinions. Besides I have been enjoying your comments in the mean time.

Yes I know Ralph, but I wouldn't shop at Wal-mart if you payed me! Have you read about the way they treat their employees? I know, I know there are other stores that sell DVD recorders. Ralph, I like spending my money on other things besides techno stuff. Do you know this song? "I enjoy being a girl."

Right you are. Many stores sell them. I'm a little confused at the WalMart controversy. I shop there daily (sorry) and know many of the employees. They tell me how happy they are to have a job and the good treatment they get there and most of them are housewives who are covered by their husbands insurance... others are entry level unskilled persons who would be walking the streets aimlessly if they had not had the opporutnity with WalMart..... One of them lives in my apartment building and (he is a minority) is so grateful for this job after several years of being turned down everyplace else.... AND for us seniors, were it not for WalMart we could never afford some of the luxuries that we can now enjoy that have been denied us as much too expensive anywhere else.... (don't be mad)

you might think differently. Different states have different labor laws, so I can't generalize, but the Wal-Mart policy of making giant profits by paying unusually low wages and their occasional practice of locking their employees inside the building (does anyone want another Triangle Shirtwaist factory disaster?), and not even giving them enough time to go to the bathroom are examples of greed and exploitation in action.
People are desperate enough to take the jobs, but that does not mean we should not stand up for fairness and a decent standard of living for workers.
Imagine poor Eri slogging home from her job at Wal-Mart without enough money in her pocket for for food and rent and having to beg Mariya to let her move in with her permanently. I'll bet then we would not hear her chirpy, "I'm home!"
Enna--if you decide to look for a new techno toy, you can check out Costco, Best Buy, PC Richards, Circuit City, and Amazon.com. I am so sorry to hear the reason for your relative silence of late, and I look forward to your full-throttle return to the forum.
Johnjean--did you ever see I Want to Be in Love with Miho Kanno? I wish all the Churasan fans could see it and see how different she is, how sweet and vulnerable.
