"JIN" and "Mother" top the Tokyo Drama Awards

The 4th International Drama Festival opened in Tokyo on Monday, as part of the annual Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta). The event's Tokyo Drama Awards were presented on the same day, and the biggest winners were "JIN" and "Mother."
"JIN" took four of the prizes, including the Grand Prix in the drama series category and Best Performance by an Actor for Takao Osawa. "Mother," on the other hand, won five awards, including a Best Drama award in the drama series category and Best Performance by an Actress for Yasuko Matsuyuki.
One of the special awards this year was Best Actor in Asia, awarded to an actor or actress in a non-Japanese Asian drama. The winner was Lee Byung Hun for his performance in "IRIS."

* Grand Prix (Single Drama): "Wagaya no Rekishi"

* Local Drama Award: "Mieruhi", "Kaka-san e"
* Best Performance by an Actor: Takao Osawa ("JIN")
* Best Performance by an Actress: Yasuko Matsuyuki ("Mother")
* Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Teruyuki Kagawa ("Ryomaden")
* Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Machiko Ono ("Hi no Sakana" and "Mother")
* Best Screenplay: Yuji Sakamoto ("Mother")
* Best Director: Hiroshi Kurosaki ("Hi no Sakana")
* Best Producer: Akihiko Ishimaru ("JIN")
* Special Award: Filming staff of "Ryomaden", Mana Ashida ("Mother")
* Best Actor in Asia: Lee Byung Hun
The International Drama Festival runs until October 28.

The English version says the festival will be held on Oct 24-25, so results will probably be announced on the 25th.

Ninomiya Kazunari, �gFreeter, Ie wo Kau�h win Tokyo Drama Awards
A partial list of winners for the 2011 Tokyo Drama Awards has been announced. Fuji TV�fs �gFreeter, Ie wo Kau�h has been chosen to receive the Grand Prix in the Series Drama category, and Arashi�fs Ninomiya Kazunari has earned Best Performance by an Actor for his role in that show.
Best Performance by an Actress is going to Suzuki Kyoka for �gSecond Virgin�h (NHK) and Ashida Mana for �gMarumo no Okite�h (Fuji TV). In the Single Drama category, TBS�fs �g99-nen no Ai ~Japanese Americans~�h has been chosen for the Grand Prix.
The complete awards will be presented during the International Drama Festival on October 24-25, which is part of the annual Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta).

Freeter, Ie wo Kau wins the Grand Prize for Tokyo Drama Awards 2011
"Tokyo Drama Awards 2011" that is held annually as a part of "International Drama Festival in TOKYO 2011" have selected its winners. For this awards, dramas are rigorously selected from the quality of the work, a drama which mirrors Japanese society appropriately, and a drama that will be accepted and do well/to sell abroad.
Freeter, Ie wo Kau (Fuji TV) that was aired in October to December 2010 has been selected as the Grand Prix winner for drama series category and 99-nen no Ai~JAPANESE AMERICANS~ (TBS aired from 3rd to 7th November 2010 for 5 consecutive days) for drama movie category.
In addition, to recognize the works sold in foreign market, a Special Award; "Asia Award" is given to JIN (TBS in April-June 2011).
Award ceremony will be held on 24th October at Roppongi Hills
