Tennis has revived because of Sharapova. She's hot AND she actually wins. What's not to like? Naughty

I only watch Rolland Garros, or Davis CUp, and expecially women match.

For two reasons :

1- Now there is a good russian wave of young russian sex bomb who arrives.
( Fuck, our tenniswomen Amelie Mauresmo who is not really a women -_- )

2-Their way of playing is better, better style.

And yes it could be a good idea for bowling or curling, but i've never watched these sports on TV.

No i'm serious, ok now it's over, but in the past she could became #1 if she played tennis seriously instead of making photos.

And of course sharapova > kournikova Smile

Kournikova wasn't that much in singles. But she kicked major arse in doubles (parterned with players like Martina Hingis, among others). She even won several grand slam titles in doubles.

It's too bad people don't give that much credit to doubles versus singles... Singles has all the glamour and such, but doubles is just as difficult, if not even more in certain aspects. Doubles takes coordination with your partner, and a lot more eye-hand coordination when playing at the net. And you must be a serve-n-volley'er to master doubles, which I think is more difficult to do than playing baseline.

So in that regard, Kournikova was one of the better doubles players. If you think along those lines, then she does deserve the publicity she received during the peek moments of her career.

Most people will relate tennis to singles. No matter how good of a double player you are, you will not be recognized as much as a singles player. I always remember watching the one on one battles with the likes of Edberg and Becker. Even though Edberg was a great doubles player I always wanted to see how well he did in singles.

Anyway isn't tennis ratings dropping? There's talk of increasing ball size, decreasing racket size, so adding models for ballgirls shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

I think ratings are dropping because there aren't many good American players anymore. There's basically only Roddick, and Agassi is close to retiring. Americans are self-centered. No Americans = no popularity. Someone needs to emerge as a tennis threat so we can have a mirror of the intense Agassi-Sampras rivalry.

Yep, and I used to be a quasi-respectable tennis player too.

I'm all for it in exhibition matches, but take the game seriously.

Well in France we don't have very good single player, but our team is really not bad and had good results in Davis cup. It's thanks to the double with Santoro who is a great double player and uses to be in the top 20 of the ATP.
Double is very fun, but i wouldn"t watch it for 10 hours.

It's really strange how the american tennis is disapearing, i really like Agassi but he's going to retire Sad

Now my favourite players are Coreia and Kuerten.

If you want intense rivalry, it's gotta be Borg and McEnroe. I don't think anyone else comes close. hehe
