I personally don't know why Sanadamaru got better ratings than Naotora. Kanbee I can understand since it was decent. Sanadamaru wasted so much screentime on unimportant stuff and super important stuff was rushed.
Naotora has its weakness too however there is nothing that ruins the show. Even the NaotoraxNaochika drama was quickly dealt with.
That averages to around 12.6, better than Hana Moyu or Taira no Kiyomori, but still Sanada Maru ended up with 16.6 and I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as Naotora. Looks like the audience dropped Naotora around episode 22 and never came back.

Looks like Juri Ueno's fans haven't forgotten her. The ratings for "Good Doctor" after three episodes:
(01) 11.5% – (02) 10.6% – (03) 11.6% (avg. 11.23)
Bear in mind that this years Taiga, "Segodon" has an average of 13.57 thru episode 27 and the only dramas with higher ratings than "Good Doctor" are "Iryu Sousa 5" averaging 12.20, "Keiji 7-nin Season 4" - 12.03, "Gibo to Musume no Blues" which has Yutaka Takenouchi and Haruka Ayase - 11.73, and "Hagetaka" 11.60.
That averages to around 12.6, better than Hana Moyu or Taira no Kiyomori, but still Sanada Maru ended up with 16.6 and I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as Naotora. Looks like the audience dropped Naotora around episode 22 and never came back.
Sanada Maru and Naotora were both plagued by lack of good writing and funding. Sanada Maru relied too much on modern lexicon-jokes, Naotora was lack of a broader, indepth story and small budget which kept the story limited to a very few sets. Segodan is better with both, but something I can't put my finger on is holding the story back. Every actor/actress is putting 100% into their characters, that has made this Taiga drama very enjoyable to watch. _________________

This is a page showing taiga ratings over the years (from 2020's Kirin ga kuru to 2003's Musashi). It breaks down the ratings into various categories: average ratings, first episode, last episode, highest and lowest rating). Further down the detailed per episode ratings are also noted.
Kirin ga kuru did pretty okay if we're talking about the last five years (only beaten by Sanadamaru). Of course we'd never reach the heady days of Atsuhime or even some of the older taiga which averaged over 25%, but I guess after the blip that was Idaten, maybe there's hope for the coming taiga. _________________

This years taiga "Kamakura dono no 13 nin" had a first episode rating of 17.3. Since that is usually one of the highest rated episodes it doesn't look like this one will break any records.
We've only been able to watch the first two episodes, nothing else has been updated as being subtitled. We've been watching via DramaCool page, can't find it anywhere else??!! _________________
