Also planning to let mods cross-mod the forums. Meaning, they are in charge of a particular forum, but have access to another busy forum so that they can take over when the others mods are not around.
This includes current mods. =) We'll discuss about it.
To kick off the topic.....
I requested to have myself considered for the "General Discussions" forum.
My forum is slow, so not much manpower is needed... I thought that I could handle more "workload", which is why I nominated myself for a General mod, as it is the section I visit the most aside from my own forum. (And the fact that I have read every single page and thread in the forum won't hurt much either--yes, yes, I have no life )
Most of the mods seem okay with it. What do you all think? _________________

I'm all for it aho! You're probably the most active of all the mods so I think that's a good choice to have you in General

Sad, ain't it????
I don't think so. I'm glad my job affords me the opportunity to use the Internet.
At my GF's new firm, she isn't allowed to surf the Internet, use personal e-mail, or Instant Messaging. So she's feeling more detached from her friends.

Dang. I'd just about lose my mind if I couldn't surf once in a while during the day...

Remember its not about "winning". Those selected to be mods are just deemed more suitable. Not really winners of any sort.
And, its not about votes (see first post). Final decision still lies with the current panel. (me and the current mods) Will be decided on suitability as mods based on: (in no particular order of importance)
1) rapport with members (friendly )
2) ability to handle situations impartially (not get involved yourself)
3) commitment of time to this forum
4) basic mod instincts - to sieve out or stop bad posts diplomatically
These points just came out of my mind as I type, so its not exhaustive. However, each is just as important. One may be strong in all but one point, and still deemed unsuitable. Nominees, how about some words about yourself with regards to the above points? (mods, feel free to add on) _________________

Taking these points into consideration:
1) I'm not everyone's friend here. However, I think that's a result of me trying to maintain order the way I see fit, and some people don't like that.
2) In my experiences with other boards as a moderator, I've handled even the most complicated situations well. I'll give the same level of service here.
3) This is where I'm most weak. Within a 24 hour period, I'm on-line at least once every four hours. However, there will be times where I'm temporarily sent to a remote military base like Diego Garcia or Yokosuka.
4) To me, bad posts should be handled by policy, not diplomacy.
I'll let Genma and the current moderators decide based on what they've seen of my actions here.

5) Moderate this message board based on the guidelines established by you (Genma)?
