Dear JDorama.com users,

I've just received news that my webhost is going to discontinue their services (popularsitehosting) and it takes effect on 1 September 2004.

To date, JDorama.com generates at least 100GB of bandwidth a month. Cheapest available and decent hosting plan or server would easily cost me over 20 times the price I'm paying now. Donations sure aren't enough for this big move, and I haven't made a decision whether to continue the site if it happens.

I've only 2 days to make this move. If you've ways to save the site, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks to all loyal members and moderators.. you've made JDorama.com possible. Lets see how its fate will be decided in the next 2 days...

how much do you pay for this site actually? cuz i know a site that only pays $14 per month for 100GB/month and thats pretty cheap

though i havent donated anything yet, but im willing to help something

Bandwidth is really a big issue here. Currently it stands at over 110gb with expected fluctuations.

I know hostdepartment now has a promo, 150gb costing USD25 per month. Problem is, its still shared hosting and I'm not sure about forking out the money for doubtful performance.

A dedicated server costs at least USD100 per month. I've found one at ev1servers, and still considering. Seems that performance and lots of stuff won't be a problem with that (except money). Will need to confirm a steady cashflow before I commit to that..

what about putting up an ads page? you have SOOOO many members, if each one clicked all the ads atleast once...

i mean, you dont even need to put it on the front page, just a link to the page FULL of ads (sorta like bunko)

Shall checkout surpasshosting. Anyone knows of their speed and statistics? Concern is.. shared hosting is usually bound by speed problems. How about reliability? I remember getting threads sprouting out when JDorama was down for a few hours..

Studio Oto is hosted by them and while I don't use up nearly as much bandwidth as jdorama their servers are great! Package 2 gives you 2400mb hosting space and 150gb monthly bandwidth. This sounds like about what you need. If you want more, then I'm sure you can strike out a bargain with them as they are really reasonable. The cost is $9.95 a month or $99.95 a year USD. I really doubt there is a better service out there. I'm one of their customers so I will vouch for their service. Anyways, hurry up and act fast

genma, i'm still new here, but in the short time i've been a member, i've really enjoyed this board (although i only really visit the aya-chan thread). the people here are a great bunch, and there doesn't seem to be as much fighting and ego-tripping like on most every other board out there. it would be a shame to lose this place.

(besides, campaign aya is not done yet )

that said, i'd very much like to make a donation towards the cost of maintaining this site. could someone let me know what the procedure is for making said donation?
