ah man he wrote Fuyajo with Takeshi Kaneshiro didn't he? ... man suicide? that's one of the worst ways to go
he also wrote violent cop i forgot the japanese title.. damn american silly titles...
that's sad man he was only 44... relatively young

Actor Shingo Yamashiro Passes Away
On Wednesday afternoon, actor Shingo Yamashiro died of aspiration pneumonia at a nursing home in Tokyo. He was 70.
Born as Yasuji Watanabe in Kyoto in 1938, the actor got his start in 1957 when he joined Toei through the "New Face" talent search. Three years later, he gained popularity as the star of the children-oriented television drama "Hakuba Douji." After appearing in many jidaigeki films, he took on roles in the yakuza-themed movie series "Furyo Bancho" and "Jingi Naki Tatakai."
Yamashiro was very active in television, appearing in dramas, variety shows, and commercials. He also directed several movies, such as "Yakuza-do Nyumon."
In his private life, Yamashiro was married to actress Hiromi Hanazono (68). They divorced once, remarried a few years later, then divorced again.

Veteran actress Junko Ikeuchi passes away

After more than 50 years in the industry, actress Junko Ikeuchi passed away on September 26 as a result of lung cancer. She was 76.
Ikeuchi, whose real name was Sumiko Hanazawa, started her entertainment career in 1954 when she applied to be a magazine cover girl and won. That job resulted in her joining the movie production company Shintoho, and she made her film debut the following year in "Koutaishi no Hanayome." In 1956, she won Best Newcomer in the 1st awards held by the Japan Film Makers Association, alongside Ken Takakura and Yujiro Ishihara.
After numerous films, Ikeuchi began a transition to television, and her first big TV role was the lead in the 1960 afternoon drama "Nichinichi no Haishin." After that she appeared in countless works on both the big screen and the small screen. With the hit drama series "Onna to Misoshiru" (1965-1980), she established her ability to attract high ratings. She later made her theater debut in 1969.
Ikeuchi was active as an actress up until her death. This past spring, she appeared in the play "Sanbaba." In the past few years, her television roles included "Ninkyo Helper," "Bara no Nai Hanaya," and "W no Higeki."
In 1957, Ikeuchi married actor Shinichi Yanagisawa, but they divorced a year later.
Ikeuchi received several honors and awards for her contributions to the arts, including the Shiju Hosho and the Geijutsu Sensho.

Actor Kodama Kiyoshi dies at 77

Veteran actor Kodama Kiyoshi has passed away at the age of 77. His management agency broke the news that he succumbed to stomach cancer at a Tokyo hospital at 12:28pm on Monday, May 16.
According to his agency, Kodama began feeling ill in late February of this year. A medical examination discovered that he had stomach cancer, and he began treatment in late March. Unfortunately, the cancer also spread to his liver, and last weekend his condition turned for the worse.
Kodama, whose real name was Kitagawa Kiyoshi, was born in 1934 and grew up in Tokyo. He was involved in theater during his time at Gakushuin University, and after graduation he passed an audition with the studio Toho. He began appearing in many Toho films during the 1960s, including Kurosawa Akira�fs �gWarui Yatsu Hodo Yoku Nemuru�h (�gThe Bad Sleep Well�h).
Kodama left Toho to go freelance in 1967. Besides his film roles, he also became well known in television dramas, such as �gArigatou,�h �gShiroi Kyoto,�h and �gHERO.�h
