More or less. If you want the best view (cleanest water), Haunama Bay is my recommendation. turtles and fish will swim alongside with you. They keep that place very open and the marine life seems to be open to being around people/humans.

This weird weather feels like Hawaii....suddenly overcast(in a way, a relief), and humid...but extremely warm to hot.

I loved Hawaii during my last visit...the weather was great, and the best part, besides the beaches and the cute japanese girls were the Snorkeling in Hanauma Bay.....i could snorkel for hours and look at the cool fish and sea creatures....

The state is now looking into how it could have better dealt with the emergency, according to the report. The Army excavator apparently hit more than just the freeway overpass. The big machine damaged four freeway signs before the bridge crash. The Army issued an official apology to the people of Oahu for causing the traffic mess. that traffic thing on tuesday jacked a LOT of people up. Too bad I couldn't use that as an excuse to not go into work on Wed. (I live in town and wouldn't be headed out that way, unless if I were going to my parents' house)

I've driven on that part of H-1 so I knew the area when I read the article. Ironically, the island isn't that big, but a problem like that on that part of freeway.....

I was going to make a new thread about travelling but i saw this so i thought i'll pass until someone else makes it when they go somewhere that hasn't been talked about here.

i recently went to hawaii, maui and oahu to be exact. i was only in maui for a day but i was in oahu for a week because i have friends there and i wanted to spend time with them as well.

the highlight of my vacation was actually the 10 hours i stayed in maui. i had this "calling" and it urged me to drive to hana. yes, the long and curvilicious hana highway with its 600+ curves and 50+ one lane bridges. it was the most beautiful, most intense, most unforgettable drive i've ever had! the day i got there, the sun barely came out. it was drizzling as they would call it, but honestly, some of the rain drops were huge. but, it didn't turn me off. i rented a car and drove. i drove for the most part and didn't stop until i got to waianapanapa park. the most beautiful black sand beach i've ever seen and have only seen in my entire life. being there took my breathe away. my ghetto ass took me some black sand home!!!

hana town is like being in the most remote paradise not located in the US. maybe like philippines in its most remote town. it was beautiful. the flowers along the highway were beautiful. there were falls along the side of the road while on the other side sometimes you can see two mountains meeting each other with lots of trees and other plants. other times and most of the time, you can see a deep cliff and down below, the raging water hits humongous rocks, and you can see blow holes, large waves that can't be seen in the shores of california. it was breath-taking. i stopped to see the famous ones like wailea falls and hamoa beach. i got to the end up to the halaekala park but i had turn back or i will miss my flight. it was a rollercoaster drive.

oahu was beautiful as well. north shore has the most beautiful beaches i've ever seen. big waves, beautiful sandy beaches. i want to get a vacation house there someday. i'd like to get a vacation house in hana also.

the drive to hana

halona blow hole

pipeline (sunset beach) - this is where they usually held competitions once a year when they get 35+ feet waves (which is not rare to see i heard when you're there at the right time)
