Hm. If you want detail, you can check here.
In my words, though, it's the story of Ginko, who has the ability to interact with strange plant/animal lifeforms that are called mushi. The unique individuals who have this ability are called mushishi, hence the title.
Not a whole lot of action, but a lot of good storytelling about various people affected by the existence of the strange creatures, and how Ginko helps them in their struggles/conflicts.
There's a movie (with Odagiri Joe, I believe) and an anime out there, as well.
