Sorry to get in the way of your Winter Season Dramas listing, but I'm so hyped about this new series I'm ready to bust.

No problemo, bmw Mr Green . I'll always love to get more inputs from my fellow friend in this forum. That's what makes our discussion here become more colourful , fun , and lively. Good Thumbsup

Yes, I have high hopes for this series as well. I've hear/read that a number of the shows will be adapted from the original series episodes, so it'll most defintiely be a comedy... Um, if the series isn't any good, we can always turn down the volume and just stare at Ryoko-chan.

I think I've never watched the American version of "Bewitched" the TV series before. So hopefully when I have the chance to watch this Ryoko's version, I'll enjoy and have a good laugh. Rolly
If not, like you said, I'll always can stare the cute and fashionable Ryoko. Jumpie

So I've heard... I like Nicole, too. But Ryoko-chan is in another class.

Yeah, Nicole is pretty woman with an elegant aura. As for Ryoko, I see her as a pretty woman with a cheerful and cute aura. Cool!

Wow.... Applaud Applaud

The majority of dorama fans surely very exciting and can't wait to see Takuya's new dorama, PRIDE. Yeah

My friend also can't wait. Big Grin She lovesss Takuya and Kenji Sakaguchi who will also play in this new dorama. She said...."Awesome !!! Yes! I have to grab the VCD of "PRIDE" when it comes out. (eventhough the show itself is not yet start in Japan lol lol )"

I guess FUJI TV will try to get the great success like what TBS had with Takuya's "GOOD LUCK !!".

Well Good Luck! for "PRIDE"

I watched Bewitched when I was growing up in SoCal and it wasn't my favorite: I liked I Dream of Jeannie much better. This will definitely change with Ryoko-chan in the lead role. She's to die for. Big Grin hehe

Fire Boys also featuring two more lovely actresses beside Rina Uchiyama in Takayuki's love life story. [ lucky guy Rolly Naughty ]

They're :

Mimura (from "Beginner")

Manami Konishi (from "Hotman")

Speaking of FIRE BOYS.... I had this silly thought Beaten
FUJI TV already showed WATER BOYS, now they will show FIRE BOYS.
Are they planning to use all earth elements as dorama title ?? Bonk
Maybe in the future we can expect doramas like ....... "Air Boys" or "Land Boys" , etc. Wack
OK....I got to stop this un-intellectual and mindless joke. Bleah Bleah

Yup, you're right rezo Cool! .

Salaryman Kintaro back in its 4th series.

I think in this first quater of 2004 many TV stations try to play safe. They're showing sequels from previous successful series so hopefully the rating will stable. New theme dorama (not a sequel) sometimes fail to gain many viewers and it's not profitable to the TV stations.

You can expect some sequels and continuation in this January - March 2004 such as :

(on TBS)

* The police - neighbourhood - comedy series

Kochira hon - ikegami - sho 2004 /
This is Hon-ikegami Police Station

starring :
Masanobu Takashima

Synopsis (from TBS website) :

This is the third in the series that depicts in a bright and passionate manner human emotions and family love through incidents that occur within the Central Ikegami Police Station precinct. In this episode, everyone in the station, starting with station chief Keisuke Shiina (Masanobu Takashima), has an experience that is a turning point in their lives - children in exam hell, children graduating, promotion and transfers, love and marital relationships. By digging down to the mundane this episode shows each of their true humanity in a clearer, deeper way.

New members join the team creating more bustle. Crack detective Kaoru Gondo (Takehiro Murata) is one of the three new officers and the publisher Suzu Motomiya (Yuko Nakazawa) is in and out of the Shiina household as Keisuke's wife Eiko is in the final stage of getting her picture book published.

We hope you will look forward to this warm human drama that will blow away winter chill.

* The salaryman - ganbatte spirit - comedy series

Salaryman Kintaro 4

starring :
Katsunori Takahashi

Synopsis (from TBS website) :

Following the death of his mentor, Yamato Construction chairman Ryunosuke Yamato, and tired of the Japanese corporate system, Kintaro leaves the salary man life. He returns to his hometown and becomes a fisherman. There he lives peacefully with his wife Masumi (Michiko Hada) and their two children. Then an unexpected visitor arrives. It is Ryunosuke's younger cousin, Momotaro Shimazu (Hideki Takahashi). Momotaro puts a strange request to Kintaro - come back to Yamato Construction and work with Ryunosuke's son Ryuhei (Kazushige Nagashima) to rid it of its current management. Current Yamato president Takatsukasa (Naoki Hosaka) has given in to pressure from ex-bureaucrat Enjoji (Tsuyoshi Naito) and is about to become his accomplice in a shady scheme. Kintaro's sense of honor is rekindled.

Kintaro the salary man rises again - to save Yamato Construction and to see justice done!

(on TV Asahi)

* The mystery - supernatural series

Skyhigh 2

starring :
Yumiko Shaku

(on FUJI TV & KTV)

* The medical - life - drama series

Shiroi Kyoto /
The Great White Tower

Toshiaki Karasawa & Yosuke Eguchi

* The meaning of life drama series

The Way We Live

starring :

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi & Koyuki

The Way We Live

(on KTV)

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi & Koyuki

Synopis ( from FUJI TV website ) :
The hit drama "The Way I Live" aired from January 2003, and told the moving story of one man who tried to reshape his life after learning that he only had a year left to live.

A year later, a new heart-warming drama is about to begin. The theme of "The Way We Live" is the "bonds between people": the ties that cannot be broken or jeopardized.

Traditionally, the bonds of marriage and bonds between families were strong and secure. But in society today, the increasing number of divorces and cases of child abuse are testing these bonds.

The characters of "The Way We Live" question themselves about the meaning of bonds, love, life, and happiness.

Shiroi Kyoto /
The Great White Tower

(on FUJI TV)

Toshiaki Karasawa & Yosuke Eguchi

Synopis ( from FUJI TV website ) :
Goro Zaizen and Shuji Satomi are assistant professors at Naniwa University Hospital. Goro is a brilliant surgeon who will do anything to make his way up the corporate ladder. On the other hand, Shuji is a physician who earnestly devotes himself to medical research. Though the two doctors have contrasting personalities and are considered to be rivals, they highly recognize each other's skills.

The entire medical department is restless while preparing for the election to choose a new Surgical Department Professor. All Goro has on his mind, is how to win the election. Meanwhile, Shuji is looking after a patient who apparently has pancreatic cancer. He carries out tests on the patient cautiously, and is very careful in telling the patient of the cancer. However, Goro barges in on their conversation, and out of the blue, tells the patient he has cancer, and that he needs an operation right away. Shuji is furious at Goro's rude attitude, and yells, "Doctors are not God!" Goro ignores this, and starts laying the groundwork for the operation. But when Goro finds out that the Director of the Medical Department has already given a diagnosis of stomach cancer, he cancels the operation. He feels that pointing out his boss's misdiagnosis will only hurt him in the upcoming election. Shuji however, is determined to save the patient's life and go on with the operation.

1. Story Re-creations

Each week viewers will see 3-6 mini-dramas that re-create the stories described in the letters. From script to presentation, the priority in production is on a level of realism that will surely send chills down viewers' spines.

2. Creepy Photographs

Guests in the studio will analyze spooky photographs sent in from viewers.

3. Documentaries

Reporters will travel to the actual scenes where frightening stories have taken place.

Actually, his character, Yagyu Hyogonosuke is troubled: He's trying to live down the horror of killing women and children during one of Japan's many battles during this time period (Sekigahara?)... He's basically a good samurai, but his uncle, Yagyu Munenori (later Yagyu Tajima-no-kami) persuades him to be a sort of enforcer (assassin) for the Tokugawa shogunate... A very complex role.

So...you've watched Musashi?! Is it good? As good as the novel? I've been a Chinese ancient series fan for long now....I would like to try to watch a long serial of Japanese ancient series once in a while. Samurai dramas I've seen are only Kimura Takuya's Chuusingura 1/47 and Oda Nobunaga......and these 2 drama specials suceed in putting me to sleep Mr Green

I would want to watch GOOD samurai dramas.........how about Toshiie to Matsu, NHK Taiga dorama in 2002?? With those all-star casts? Is it worth to watch?

I'm reeaaaally looking forward to this year's NHK taiga dorama, Shinsengumi! ^___^ Not just because my ichiban is the leading role....but also from the trailers and previews I've seen...it looks like a light-hearted samurai drama!!^.^ There are enough funny scenes that I think wouldnt make us bored at all...and i'm also quite familiar with the characters already...from Samurai X^^ So, it shld be fun to watch! Mr Green

Btw, is your signature Ryoko Yonekura??O_O She looks cool!! From what movie is that? Or is it a CM? I dislike her the first time I saw her in Love Revolution........but, I grew to like her ever since I watched Pretty Girls ^-^ She's very sweet in it....

To enau:
Thanks alot for the complete infos!!!^o^ Yappa...sasuga enau-san^^
Where did you get all these datas from? Help! Coz i thought FujiTV english pages stop updating >.< And everytime I go there....the latest drama is still Tokyo Love Cinema!! Not updated at all....! Sad

And, ne....onegaishimasu! Can you find infos/synopsis on TBS' Suna no Utsuwa which will start on Jan 18th? Starring Nakai Masahiro, Takeda Shinji, Matsuyuki Yasuko.
It is said that its a suspense mystery drama, adapted from a popular novel. A movie adaptation of it in 1970s was a big hit....

Actually, I'm still watching Musashi, since we're only on epsiode 45 (49 episodes total) here in SoCal... I think it's a very good series with a lot of character development. There is some action, but the focus is on Musashi's transition from wild man to thoughtful samurai, and his romance with Otsu. The series follows the book (which I have read) pretty well, but it does take some liberties just to make the story more interesting...

I've heard quite a bit about Toshie to Matsu, but I've never seen it.

Yes it is Ryoko-chan. Big Grin Those two animated gifs were created from her film Gun Crazy... If you liked her in Pretty Girls, then you'll love her in Seikei Bijin... She does in great job in that series... And Bewtiched in Tokyo (Okusama wa Majo) is coming January 16! Applaud
