A bit of trivia re: the original Hawaii Five-O--remember Wo Fat, the arch nemisis of Steve McGarrett? He was played by an actor named Keigh Deigh who wasn't anywhere close to being an Asian (his real name was Kenneth Dickerson).
Today's episode of Five-O featured Mark Lenard (best known for his role as Spock's father, Sarek) portraying a Japanese... And a ninja, to boot!
So, spent the afternoon down at JANM where they had a screening of Farewell to Manzanar. The movie itself is just okay, gotta remember this was a 1976 made-for-tv movie. To the directors credit all the actors were Japanese-Americans.
They had the director and some of the actors there as well for a short Q-and-A. That was interesting. According to the director when he first pitched it to Universal they liked it, but instead of telling the story thru the eyes of this Japanese American family, they wanted it told thru the eyes of the white school teacher. I guess TV execs were idiots even back then.
More interesting was one of the members of the audience. He was an 89 year old man that had actually been at Manzanar and he had been a "No-No Boy". They were the guys that refused to sign the loyalty oath and all got shipped back to Japan. Somebody should do a movie about him!

Have a lot of friends hooked on that one. We only watched a couple eps due to the repetitive factor.

A couple of weeks ago, for reasons I still haven't remembered, I decided to watch the NBC show Parenthood and got hooked. Just watched the midseason finale a few days ago and now have to wait until mid-January for the show to resume
The Walking Dead had its midseason finale last week and I was glad it was a good episode because the last few were dragging on.
Other shows I've been hopelessly hooked on (and have managed to find time to watch despite all the readings and homework ): Bones, Burn Notice, Dexter

I thought Game of Thrones was terrific. Amazing group of actors, great production values, and if you like the genre (which I do) a very good story line.
My only problem with the show is that it ended way too soon... and it's gonna be too long before the next installments come out.
It's true! I wish it would have lasted more and the wait is killing me!
I got really hooked on an british series called Downton Abbey.
Interesting coincidence: One of today's Rifleman episodes starred Patricia Blair and Ed Ames, both of whom would be regulars on the TV series Daniel Boone.
