I'll be there with a few friends. If you're taking BART you'll have a loooong walk. Only station I can think of is Polk and walking up Van Ness and making a left on Grant. That's like a 20 block walk! Probably best to park in the nearby neighborhood and walk like 5 blocks. Better than 20!
The closest bart station you get off at will be the Montgomery Station. Then you have to walk like 1-2 blocks to take the 38 Geary bus. There is either a 38 Geary that stops at every bus stop or 38L (limited) Geary bus that stops at every other bus stop. But either of them will take you to Japantown. Hope this will help you out.

Man, I might be having a "Cherry Blossom weekend"
I found out that there is one going on also in Cupertino, California.
So, maybe go on Saturday to the San Francisco one again (already went last week, but gotta go back for Teriburgers),
then on Sunday catch the Cupertino one.

By the way, someone told me that the Miss Cherry Blossom is going on this Saturday, but according to my link above, it took place last Week??
I went last Sunday the 18th, and that's what I heard. Anyway, there is a phone number on the link so you can get the right info.

Ok, I'll be at the festival tomorrow at around noon I believe. If you guys want to find me, I'll be wearing blue jeans and probably a blue sweat shirt. Hoody maybe. I'm 5'8", 140 lb, and Chinese. Hmm what else, I'm 19 but I get mistaken for 15 If all else fails just scream "eltinator" very loud and I might answer depending on how embarassing it is

Eh, I just came back from the festival. I would have stayed longer, but I was by myself and I got bored really fast. Although, I did go to Mikado Music Japan and got me a copy of Hikki's new single Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro. I would have gotten more stuff, but a LOT of it was way overpriced. Oh, and I got a cool little Japanese good luck cellphone strap. I was kinda surprised when it came out to be $5 though. I had some Takoyaki and Green Tea Tapioca and walked around. That's about it. But, I must admit, the number one reason why I came was for the hawt chicks anyways. And boy there were some good looking ones.

I went yesterday and man there were sooooooooo many people. Lots of cool booths and lots a food. And yeah there were a lot of hot girls. The worst part was driving back though. Took me hours to drive back because of the Bay Bridge contruction.

Was there on Saturday as well! Got there a bit late like 5:30 so we were mainly in the mall area. Picked up a few posters including 1 of my Aya-chan for $4.50 a piece

Was planning to go but caught a cold on Friday... I had a music artist/friend who was there to sell her CD's and sign autographs on Sunday and friends who were in charge of the cosplay masquerade and anime viewing room as well. Anyway, my friends who went Saturday were a bit bored (if you go every year, it can get boring). One friend said "if you were an anime fan or a racer, then you would be happy because those are the majority of the people I saw on Saturday) but those who went Sunday were in awe of how many people showed up. Japantown Merchants Assoc. had some impressive estimates but anyway, I heard it was a succesful event, a hot event though.
If anything, would of love to plan something because me and a group of friends have a yearly ritual of going to the festival, get some dinner, go to Mikado before it closes and then head to the South Bay for karaoke and back home we go.

A little bit late, but here are some files from the 2006 sakura matsuri from the DC area. woulda post last week, but I've been out of town. Here is a lovely shot of a blossum with the Jefferson Memorial behind it...
Here are the Tamagawa Univerisity Dance & Taiko Group. The boys are doing the taiko thing (they are just awesome)
and here are their performance. I gotta warn you tho, it is a zipped 91m file (click on the yellow link).
Taiko Performance
...and the girls are here:
with their performance here on the pink link:
Blossum Dance
(it's called MVI_0022.AVI. Original, isn't it? )
BTW, mods, can one of you change the title to just Cherry Blossum Festival, being that there are those festivals all over the world? (with the dc matsuri distinctly being the "largest outdoor japanese festival" in the U.S.) hope y'all like them!
