ive always been able to display japanese characters using my internet browser (firefox), but for some reason the characters found at:

can't be displayed - it comes up as goop.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

It works for me. Make sure your encoding is set to Shift-JIS and not EUC.

Just a note for those who are just starting out on learning the language....

This should by no means be an avenue of learning Japanese.
Learning "proper" Japanese should be priority before attemping to learn and mimic such type of speech.

Not only should it be no means of an avenue of learning Japanese because of its vulgar nature, there are many mistakes in the explanations (saying this and that are Kansai-ben, when it's really just regular Japanese, etc.), and there are many mistakes in transcriptions of the audio passages. The author understands much about Japanese, but this should have been proofread or something.

Kokuou's Final Verdict:
This should only be used (if at all) by advanced learners of Japanese who are able to pick out the mistakes.

hello, I am self studying Japanese, anyone can recommand a good text book that's in English & in Hiragana if there's one out there?

I've learned to read Hiragana & Katakana and I can read but can't pronounce Kanji, the books I use are in English and I found my writing in Japanese is often wrong such as forgetting the long vowels or double consonants, I think reading the lessons in Japanese will help improve that.
