I am a black female and I live in NYC. The area I work in has a pretty mixed population. It is the village in NYC....There are PLENTY of Asian people...lotsa great Asian restuarants and residents.

Unfortunately....I see SOOOOOO many asian females with white males and I have always wondered just WHY that is! Personally...I happen to have an extreme attraction to Asian guys! I think they're sexy...attractive and VERY datable!

I have 6 sisters and I am not the minority in the family!! We ALL share a love for sexy Asian guys! I LOVE your style...your strength and your unique beauty! There's something about you guys that is just NO...I dont have an Asian dude fetish. I just appreciate the beauty in all different types of people and Asian guys happen to be sexy AND very attractive

On the other hand...I think that some Asian guys might be suprised to hear this.

Yeah, he does sound pretty damn bitter, but I got a kick out of the read although I can't relate I just kinda think he's looking too deeply into it and/or talking about people being shallow for not dating Asian guys. My take on it: Yeah there are shallow people out there. But....who you date, it's a matter of who you find attractive and how they treat you. Attractiveness obviously comes first, before you know them. We can't get around that fact! Some people find some people of certain races as more physically attractive than others.

I don't see it as necessarily shallow or racist per se, if it's based purely on physical attraction before they know each other and NOT "I wanna date a white man because they have money and treat me good" because that would be stereotyping and wouldn't necessarily be accurate (all races have bad apples!). Maybe partly it can be seen that way. If it is racist and shallow, then I would say a large amount of the population is! LOL

hey did you notice that the ection on babes (http://stuffthatisawesome.tripod.com/awesome/id5.html), all the girls in there are whiteys? would this make him (in his own words) a traitor? Maybe he's just getting lonely and tired of "taking care of his own business."

As far as trying the other "taste of race", i think it's human nature to try different things, which may include going out with people of differnt background. No way in hell when i was going to school i would have gone out with an asian, simply because: EVERY frickin time an asian girl pass by, my dumb a$$ boys'd say "hey, niko. that chinese girls over there (doesn't matter she as chinese or not, as long as her eyes were slanted, she was chinese) you should hook her up. no matter if she was hot or hurting, fat or thin, smart or a pole; the fact that she was 'chinese' was ok for me. i'd be like, F that. so if you were black (most/all of my boys were that) do i get on your case about all the black poon? so it wasn't until i went to JPN that i start to go out with asian girls. So i guess in a way, i kinda missed out on all the american born asian and all of their complexities. If that makes me a shallow, i guess my name would be hal.

i find that a lot of girls here in america (altho i hate to generalize) like to go for the "bad-boy" type, which makes sense in the above mentioned Cops TV series, you have all these people beating up on their wives (blk, white, yellow, whatever). Seems that nice guys do finish last, so why not change your style to mr. nice guy to billy-badass? Anyone agrees/disagree?

I don't think there are pure Mr. Nice Guys out there... Each guy (and girl, for that matter) has their dark side... It just depends how bad...

Everyone is shallow to some extent, so that was kinda my point I've only dated 3 different races, but it was based if they were attractive. I don't care what race someone is as long as they are hot and then treat ya good.....and aren't some loser-bum-ass criminal.

I hear ya guys on the Joy Luck Club stuff. Someone mentioned to me that there has been criticism of Amy Tan and Maxine Hong Kingston's works being so readily published becuase it reinforces the "white man" owned publishers tastes.

Funny article, but living in Japan has made me realize Japanese women find Japanese men plenty attractive. Of course there are a bunch of "hakujin" fans, but if you live in Japan long enough you will see that there are plenty of Japanese men here women find dateable. Unfortunately Western culture has a way of making it seem like only the white male is a desirable sex object at the same time concealing how this is a cultural specific and consciously constructed ideal. It takes a lot of patroling and maintainance to only produce images of a passive immasculated Asian men. And when Hollywood finds a macho martial arts Asian, he gets denied any love scenes with his white female actresses.

This isn't to say that the white guy isn't still idolized here in Japan, but at least Japanese men aren't stereotyped in their own country.

My point is that God doesn't have it out for "us", its the white man pretending he's god. (thus tv, movies, videos, novels, and textbooks in the West depict a whiteman's "ideal" , not necessarily whats really out there)
