sorry.. i tot u were a girl.. gomen..
is it juat for your area or its the same everywhere in japan, the people dont really bother if they see an artist on the streets..
well, yutenji will surely be on my visit list the when i go to japan.. and u better bring me to those places u just said.. hehe
That's something that puzzles me as well.... I saw these 3 actors in the gym which I go to:
Toyokawa Etsushi - maybe around 7-8 times
Tackey - just once; I do not think he is a regular of this gym
Yamamoto Koji - about 3 times
And all those times when I sighted them, I have been observing the people around especially the ladies to see if any special attention was paid to them..... nothing.... people just let them get on with their stuff.... so perhaps in Japan, people really respect the privacy of others??
Also they seem pretty open about things.... like Toyokawa he wears a dark shaded glasses when he works out but still easily recognisable. And when he is in the shower room and ofuro (the bath is Japanese style and big common area - of course man and lady separated), he made no attempts to hide as well and just walked around undressed like the rest of the people....
I heard that there is a cafe in Meguro which opens till 4am. Many celebrities go there late into the night..... I have not been there so far.... maybe I should make a trip there one of these days since it is not too far from where I stay and make a trip report here in the forum.
Kyouki, if you come to Tokyo next time. I will take you to Yutenji and wait and standby with your camera.
Still prefer to meet more actresses since so far the only one I have seen in a Taiwanese restaurant in Shinjuku is Koyuki. She is with some unknown guy.... maybe manager..... not with Sagaguchi Kenji (supposed to be her boyfriend??)
Hello Ebisu501, somehow I think I know you, did you live in Ebisu Garden?
I have my friend who live in Ebisu Garden and meet a lot many Japanese Stars, so I thought he was you. sorry If I am wrong.
By the way I also met Takenouchi Yutaka in ramen shop (around Ebisu), No one on that shop recognize him, After he paid for the ramen, I came to him and ask him for his sign (with english), He speaks english very well.
I also saw Katori Shingo(taller than I thought) at Harajuku with his manager I think.
I believe that friend is another person.... I do not stay in Ebisu Gaden Place but mine is 10 min walk away from it.
You are right, the interesting thing is the locals do not give a toss about them when they are in the public..... after all, I think many locals do not even watch the dramas.... my co-workers told me that I probably watched more drama in my 2 years here than he did in 38 years staying in Tokyo ! When I told my co-workers about seeing Kimura Takuya in Tsutaya, a few were scratching their heads since they know who is SMAP but have no idea who the members are....

Are you staying in Ebisu as well?
No, I live in Shizuoka, I went to my friend place (Ebisu Garden) when I went to Tokyo. so I know a little bit that area, My friend has met Hamazaki Ayumi at Ebisu Garden many times. he think Hamazaki Ayumi was living in Ebisu Garden (before she is super star, like now). Ebisu what a place to live, you can meet stars so easily there.
Also a lot of the dramas setting are taken around Ebisu/ Daikanyama area.... Love Revolution is filmed mostly in Ebisu area.... the restaurant is across the road, down the slope from the East exit of the train station. The hotel which Etsumi Makiko went to do the arranged marriage meeting is in Meguro where many people held wedding banquets. The hospital is just 5 min walk from my place....
After staying in Japan now, I realised I always try to see where the drama is being filmed by trying to see any familiar site in the back ground.....
So far I have only seen one filming done so far and it was outside a bank branch in Meguro in the evening.... till now still have no idea what film was that. Also they took very long to prepare the scene and in the end, I just walked off.... they hung self made signs and changed the name totally of the original location totally.
I see...

I do the same thing also, when you know where the place is, somehow you feel like [I knew it!!].
After staying in Japan for almost 6 years, I become more like variety rather than dorama. of course for the first time I crazy about dorama too. Did this happened to you also ?
Actually I hardly ever watch TV.... only thing I do watch is English football on Saturdays..... mainly due to me returning home late on weekdays.... but I do agree that variety shows are fun but most of the time I cannot catch what they are saying as they speak too fast for me.... if they display the words at the bottom of the screen for some of those then it is not too bad.....
Even dramas, I hardly watched on the weekly slot.... I wait for the VCD to be out and then buy them..... when I watch, I normally prefer to finish the whole show in 2-3 days eg. over 1 weekend..... also using the subtitle to practise my listening skill as well....
