L'Arc~en~Ciel to start 2011 with anniversary concert

In 2008, rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel indicated that they would not be doing another live performance until 2011, to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Now, two years later, more details have finally been revealed.

The band's big concert will take place at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, with an estimated capacity of 20,000 for the event. The concert has been named "L'A HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and will appropriately start when the clocks turn to midnight on December 31, 2010, and the new year begins.

L'Arc~en~Ciel's last concert together was at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka in June 2008, finishing off a world tour that started two months earlier. Since then, the four members have mainly been active with their solo projects, though they did have a few releases during that time.

The band has other plans for their anniversary year as well. In addition to the New Year's concert, they have already said that there will be a new single, and they are currently planning a tour that will be at least as big as their 2008 tour, which was attended by 320,000 people over 10 concerts in 7 cities.

During their "20th L'Anniversary Starting Live L'A HAPPY NEW YEAR!" concert at the Makuhari Messe tonight, L'Arc~en~Ciel made several announcements about their 2011 schedule. They will release 3 best albums in February and a live DVD box set in March, then hold two back-to-back concerts at Tokyo's Ajinomoto Stadium in May.

The best albums will be released simultaneously on February 16. They will represent different periods of L'Arc~en~Ciel's career, titled "TWENITY 1991-1996," "TWENITY 1997-1999," and "TWENITY 2000-2010." A special box set with all three CDs and a bonus DVD will be released on March 9 under the title "TWENITY BOX."

On March 30, the band will release a live DVD box set called "FIVE LIVE ARCHIVES 2." The set consists of 5 discs, each featuring a concert that has never been released on DVD before. The five concerts are:
1.Tokyo Dome - December 23, 1997 (1997 REINCARNATION)
2.Osaka Cosmosquare - July 17, 1999 (1999 GRAND CROSS TOUR)
3.LIQUIDROOM ebisu - July 28, 2005 (AWAKE TOUR 2005 Zenyasai "Konya Kiseki ga Okiru!?)
4.Fuji-Q Highland Conifer Forest - August 26, 2007 (Are you ready? 2007 Mata Heart ni Hi wo Tsukeru!)

Then on May 28-29, L'Arc~en~Ciel will perform two concerts at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo. Ticket sales have not yet been scheduled.

Rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel announced on Friday that their anniversary concerts at the Ajinomoto Stadium on May 28-29 are going to be streamed live to 40 theaters across Japan. In addition, the concerts will be shown in 6 theaters internationally, though there may be delays due to the time zone differences. The international theaters are in Paris, London, New York, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Seoul.

The two concerts are being held in celebration of the band�fs 20th anniversary. At the end of March, L�fArc~en~Ciel announced that they decided to donate all proceeds from the concert to the Tohoku earthquake relief efforts. A portion of the proceeds from the theater viewings will also be donated to charity.

40 theaters in Japan have been designated for the live streams. Tickets are being sold for 4,000 yen.

Ticket details for the international screenings will vary. The participating theaters are:

L�fArc~en~Ciel reveals 2012 world tour schedule

Rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel announced a partial schedule for their 2012 world tour. So far, 7 dates have been announced, including a stop at Madison Square Garden in New York.

This will make L�fArc~en~Ciel the first Japanese artist to hold a concert at Madison Square Garden on their own. X Japan previously scheduled a concert there as part of their 2008 world tour, but that tour had to be canceled due to Yoshiki�fs health.

So far, the schedule of L�fArc~en~Ciel�fs world tour is:

��March 7, 2012 – Bangkok, Thailand – Impact Arena
��March 10, 2012 – Shanghai, China – Mercedes-Benz Arena
