Ayumi Hamasaki 3-D concert movie opens next month
Thu, July 15, 2010 (9:17am EDT)
Fans of pop star Ayumi Hamasaki will be able to see her in 3-D in movie theaters starting next month. A total of 22 state-of-the-art 3-D cameras were used to film her nationwide tour last year, and the footage has been edited (with some use of CG) to create a new kind of concert experience.

Last year, Hamasaki performed her biggest tour ever, consisting of 35 shows in 12 cities for a total audience of roughly 300,000 fans. Six of the shows, held at three different venues including the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, were filmed for this project. Filming started in July 2009, which actually makes it the first 3-D recording of a Japanese music artist. It is said that there were only eight 3-D cameras in all of Japan at that time, but her staff spent 200 million yen on five new cameras for the project. Over the six concerts, a total of 22 cameras were used.

Hamasaki's 3-D movie will have an advance screening on August 27, then will open up to 65 theaters across the country on August 28. Tickets for the film, which will come with original goods, have already gone on sale at a presale price of 2000 yen.

Can you imagine seeing those eyes in 3-D???? Shocked

Ayumi Hamasaki to marry actor Manuel Schwarz
Fri, December 31, 2010
Singer Ayumi Hamasaki has announced that she will soon get married. According to statements she made on her Twitter account and on her fan club website just after the start of the new year, she will be tying the knot with Austrian actor Manuel Schwarz.

Hamasaki met Schwarz in August of last year. At that time, Schwarz (who is also known as Mannie) played her husband in the music video for her song "Virgin Road." Then in October, he appeared in two more of her music videos, for the songs "Love Song" and "Last angel." Within those two months, the two became very close, frequently exchanging e-mails and phone calls.

On December 31, Hamasaki performed "Virgin Road" as the opening act of NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen, wearing a white wedding dress. After that, she headed to Yoyogi National Gymnasium for her own countdown concert. However, she decided to wait until after those performances before announcing the news of her marriage online.

Hamasaki's management has acknowledged her announcement. Although she does not have any upcoming work in her schedule at the moment, it is said that she does not plan on retiring.

Hamasaki Ayumi continues support for disaster relief with 30 million yen donation
March 18, 2011

Singer Hamasaki Ayumi has been very active in response to the massive earthquake last week, constantly spreading news and messages through her official Twitter account to her more than 450,000 followers. On Friday, her record label Avex revealed that she has also donated 35 million yen so far towards the relief efforts in the affected areas.

According to Avex, her most recent donation was a 30 million yen contribution to the Japanese Red Cross on Friday. Before that, she had already given to other organizations, donating 1 million yen on March 12 and 13, and an additional 3 million yen on March 14.

Hamasaki also announced a few days ago that she is collaborating with fashion magazine ViVi for charity T-shirts, which she designed herself. Each shirt is selling for 1,500 yen, and all sales will go towards helping victims in the affected areas.

Hamasaki had seven CD releases simultaneously scheduled for March 30, but Avex has postponed all of its new releases that were planned for late March. Tickets for her Saitama Super Arena concerts on April 9-10 were also scheduled to go on sale this weekend, but those have been postponed for now.

Hamasaki Ayumi to divorce

January 16, 2012

Singer Hamasaki Ayumi has just announced through her official fan club that she is getting divorced. She married Austrian actor Manuel Schwarz in Las Vegas a little more than a year ago, on New Yearfs Day of 2011.

Hamasaki acknowledged that she is the main reason for the divorce. Sources say that the two had originally planned to live in the United States, but ever since the Tohoku earthquake last March, Hamasaki has felt unable to leave Japan.

Hamasaki said that she and Schwarz tried to discuss how to continue their marriage, and she felt that if they were only physically separated they would be able to overcome that by travelling back and forth to see each other. However, the distance between them has also become mental, and Hamasaki explained that she can no longer return to the time when she felt she could live outside Japan.

It is reported that Hamasaki will file for divorce through a lawyer in the United States on Monday (U.S. time).
