You guys should check out a GREAT program called JWPce. It'll convert any type of encoding from S-JIS to Unicode and more. Just copy and paste from the program to browser and visa versa. Not only that, there are comprehensive dictionaries you can download from the site as well as the ability to make your own. Bar-none the best program out there IMO. Hell, I learned so much vocabulary and kanji by looking it up in JWPce that Japanese class is easy breezy () now.

what do you need the fonts for? you can use the MS JPN IME in the MS Office suites, if that is your sole purpose.

I already know how to type using IME, so I'd like to try other fonts for a change... ^_^

You can get other language fonts by using the same method posted on the first page. That's how I got Korean on mine.

The problem is that Microsoft Windows XP Professional edition is really to expensive, about 450 €, that's crazy.

We could say that I have lost my CD. -_-

SO without Cd, is it impossible to type in japanese, to get the files somewhere ?

Maybe it can work with a clone of xp, but it doesn't work with a copy (despite the fact that my windows is not a copy -_-)...

It's only 200mo of files, someone should have uploaded them somewhere...

Xavio, I'm not sure I understand your problem, but there are other programs besides IME that will allow you to type in Japanese.

For instance, http://www.njstar.com/ has a bunch of different programs that may fit your need. They have free trial versions and I am sure purchasing the program will be far less than buying XP Pro.

Exactly what OS are you using anyways? XP Home edition? Win2k?
What sort of error do you get when you try to install IME? If it asks for a specific file name, write the filename down and google for it. Then try again. If it asks for another file, do the same thing again. There's a good chance that somebody out there has it online someplace for whatever reason....It's worked for me many times before.... ^_^;;;;;

Hmm, I followed the instructions, and they worked well, but, now my fixedsys font only displays in Japanese script. Is there anything i can do to make it look like it did when my default encoding was English? After years of using this font in mIRC it'd be awfully difficult to adjust to a new one now.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Sorry, but which set of instructions are you talking about?
Well, it sounds like you've got the wrong default language set in your Regional and Language settings. Open the dialog box and tab over the the "advanced" menu and make sure "English" (or whatever your language you wanted) is selected in the pull-down menu as your default language for non-unicode programs. Chances are, you've got it set to Japanese, which is why the fixedsys fonts have "changed".

If that's not it, drop a line and we'll figure out what's going on....

I was referring to the instructions in the first post on this thread.

The problem i'm having is that I want to run some apps as though my system were Japanese, and others as though it were English. Like I would do if I were using applocale in XP (I'm using 2k). And I was wondering if it's possible. I have NJStar, which i used to use almost exclusively when i used Win98, and everything worked fine, but it doesn't help much in 2k.

Basically, right now I can have my default language Japanese and have programs such as Winny or WinMX work fine with unicode characters, and yet have my other apps look odd, or vice versa with English. Is there no way to have it both ways?

Er, nevermind... I found a solution, by updating NJStar... Boy I feel stupid now XD

yoh...ive enable japanese text on my comp...but its hard to type in japanese unless i hv the japanese keyboard...the one with hiragana beside the normal capitals...is there any way to make it easier to type instead of buyin a new japanese keyboard?? the first post said that if i wrote yuki then there will be hiragana under it...just hit enter if i want the hiragana....but that doesnt work on my comp....my "U" is �ȁ@and "K" is ��....help!!!
