Mika Nakashima graces cover of Rolling Stone
Thu, March 6, 2008 (5:54pm EST)

Singer Mika Nakashima has been chosen as the first Japanese person to be on the cover of Rolling Stone Japan.

The American-based Rolling Stone launched the Japanese version of its magazine last March. Past issues have featured overseas artists on the cover, but Nakashima will break tradition with the April issue (on sale March 10), which will also include a 4-page feature on her. There is further talk that Nakashima may appear on the cover of the U.S. edition in the future.

The magazine's editor selected her for the cover because he wanted a female artist whose impact extended beyond just music. Nakashima, who is involved in areas such as fashion and acting, was a natural choice.

Mika Nakashima and Kato Miliyah to release collaboration single

Nakashima Mika and Kato Miliyah are releasing a collaboration single, titled "Fighter", on June 4.

"Fighter" will be used as the theme song for the Japanese-dubbed version of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' that's scheduled to open in theaters on April 25. It's a powerful rock number that's written by Nakashima and Kato, composed by Kato, and arranged by Taku Takahashi (m-flo).

The single will also include "Fighter (Tachytelic World Cup Brazil 2014 Remix)", a remix of "Fighter" interlaced with samba rhythm. This will serve as the official song for '2014 FIFA World Cup' and will also be included in the "2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Official Album", which will be released on May 21.

Nakashima and Kato hit it off because of their similar taste in makeup and fashion. They grew more friendly with each other, which resulted in this collaboration. Nakashima commented on the collaboration, "I was uneasy as this was my first collaboration single, but I respected her talents, and I feel very honored to have collaborated with her."

Regarding the song, Kato said, "I'm absolutely honored to write the song for the world-famous movie 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'! I wrote this song while imagining Spider Man, who is a cool yet pained 'Fighter'."

The single will be available in a "Mika Edition" and "Miliyah Edition". Both versions will come with a new song called "Gift" as the coupling track. In addition, the "Mika Edition" will include a "Miliyah LESS" version of "Fighter", and the "Miliyah Edition" will include a "Mika LESS" edition of "Fighter".

Mika Nakashima to make guest appearance in "Omotesando Koukou Gasshoubu"

Nakashima Mika will sing the insert song for TBS drama 'Omotesando Koukou Gasshoubu'. She will also make a guest appearance in its 8th episode on September 11.

In the drama, "Ai no Uta" is a song that has been passed down in Omotesando High School's chorus club. Instead of having the cast just sing it in the drama, the producer also wanted to use it as the insert song. Thus, he called up Nakashima to grace the drama with her beautiful singing voice. This song will be released digitally on September 25.

In the drama's 8th episode, Nakashima will play popular artist 'Kamishima Kana' who is an alumni of Omotesando High School. With the members of the chorus club, she will sing a cover of BEGIN's "Koishikute". This will mark Nakashima's first drama appearance since "Unubore Deka" aired about five years ago in 2010.

I am already looking forward to how this ballad will add to the drama."

As the coupling track, the single will include "Ai no Uta", which is the insert song for TBS' drama "Omotesando Koukou Gasshoubu!". This song was written and composed by Maekawa Shingo of Kariyushi58.
