Speaking of snowboarding, I just broke my arm/wrist because of that. I went snowboarding last year, a week before xmas. It was fun though. But it was just that damn fake snow and slippery ice.
Oh, the place was Mt. High, one of snowboarding/ski places you can go here in Southern California. It's not really worthy of being called a resort, IMO. They don't have cabin or hotel or place that you can stay over there, just the place to play. But they're the closest one from where I live, so what can I say he he.
And right now, I'm on this stupid cast until the end of this month. Aarghh, I can't wait 'till they take out this annoying cast.

Dude, immediately go and buy the Burton Impact wristguards or the Burton Impact Glove, which have built-in wristguards. They will save your wrists.
The pros wear body armor (NFL, MLB, NHL, etc.), so take a lesson from them.
Mammoth is probably the best place in Southern California.

Did the hotel staff speak English?
I know I know, my nihongo needs work. |
if YOUR nihongo needs work, MY nihongo is still looking in the classifieds.
the signs were mostly in jp and the hotel staff spoke very limited english, but i was with my japanese friends, so *whew*
i had a real blast. at night, i would go outside of the cabins and run around in the snow like some demented clown.

Xav: looking forward to some snowy french pics, man! |
In France you can Ski in hundreds of places, but the best are in the Alpes.
Maybe you have already heard of Chamonix, Albertville and grenoble ( which hosted the olympic winter games in 1968 and 1992), Courchevel, Val-d'Isere, Mont Blanc (4808m high), Aiguille du Midi.
You can search on google and find many pics of this places.
Here is the map of one of the biggest place.

My friends are going to upload some photos from last week. I'm waiting...

pc: nah, in japan, you can snowboard almost anywhere. i heard in certain spots in tokyo, there are INDOOR ski/snowboard places!

It takes more than one lesson and more than one day.
Really, the best way to learn is to spend sets of two days in a row, and also invest in a pair of good kneepads and hip pads and wrist guards, because you'll be falling so much.
Most folks can't handle more than 2 days in a row before being exhausted and beat. But you learn a lot faster by doing two consecutive days.
Do like 2 days on... the 2-3 weeks off... then 2 days on... then 2-3 weeks off... and 2 days on. By the end of the 6th day, you'll be cruising.
