The new group NEWS of Johnny's fame (SMAP, V6, Kinki Kids etc...) held a CD debut event today. Unfortunately, the event was called off after a mob of more than 180,000 fangirls showed up.
Early in the morning the fans had started to gather at the nearby train station to get a chance to shake hands with the members. By 7:30am the train station was flooded with people and the nearby police station sent out 3 patrol cars to help with controlling the crowd. By 9:30am there were over 180,000 people. The fans had spilled over into the road bringing traffic to a standstill. Shoving matches ensued between fangirls and police.
Meanwhile, inside the event started and the group was able to shake hands with about 30,000 fans. Unfortunately, the situation escalated beyond the point of control. By 10:00am the event was cancelled, according to Johnny's Entertainment. The sales of the CD have been astounding, passing 450,000 units in the Kanto region alone. The CD is sold exclusively at 7-11 stores and therefore would not register on the charts that determine sales from record store sales. The chain hasn't released national numbers, but the CD is widely believed to be one of the best selling of the year.
While they have made a sensational debut, gaining even the backing of the television show Hey!Hey!Hey! which is very anti-Johnny's, it will be intresting to see whether the group can keep up sales in the future. There is no doubt, however, that this is one of the biggest debut singles of any group in a long time.

but as about heyheyhey music champ.. would rather the producers didn't think of them as johnny's but as the image character of the world cup volleyball which fujitv has exclusive rights to.. so they want news to be on as many fujitv variety shows as possible.. i mean, you can't possible ask them to go on smapxsmap right..? the seniors cooking for news.. wrong and wierd..

Kusano Hironori he's so cute.. used to be a member of K.K.Kity.. and he can play the piano quite well, i heard.. he's also 15..

Kato Shigeaki the other ex-member of K.K.Kity, he's 16.. he was one of the first johnny's jr i liked.. acted in kinpachi 6 with masuda..

Koyama Keiichiro another ex-member of K.K.Kity.. he always used to be the one who gets voted the junior who looks most like a girl, after yamapi, that is.. he's 19, university student studying literature..

Yamashita Tomohisa everyone knows him i guess, he's the leader of NewS.. ex 4tops member and ex-johnny's junior leader.. 18 years old, and just managed to get into the same univeristy as koyama, meiji university..!!

Uchi Hiroki kansai junior, used to be vocal of kansai jr. band V.West.. he's 18.. and i think he looks like cnythia koh (a singapore artiste) a LOT..

Nishikido Ryo the other kansai junior, he's 18 going oto 19.. not sure whether he is 19 already or not.. he's cute i think.. he used to be so small in stature and now he looks really kakkoii.. matsujun's good friend btw..

Masuda Takahisa my favourite NewS member.. acted in Musashi as the young musashi.. and he's really funny.. has a nice voice too, always doind backup dancing for more prominent juniors before he got into NewS.. he's 17..

Tegoshi Yuya the NewS member that spent the least time in johnny's jr. only 10 months..!! but his voice is great too.. only 15 also, but he's cute..

Is it just me or does anyone feel this way too... that YamaP seem to have an air around him, that reminds me of Kimura Takuya? It's the way he carries himself I think... like he isn't someone with big actions/mannerisms, have a calm demeanor most of the time and seemingly unperturbed by things around, well, he just seem so... aloof and cool? literally speaking Just a thought.

well.. yamapi's dancing used to remind me of matsujun.. but then it could be perhaps i keep looking at matsujun that's why.. every little actiong anyone does can remind me of him..

Right on! By the way, Matsujun is great in Kimi wa Petto neh, didn't like him in Gokusen but he's so adorable as a petto!

NewS event that is just over (from 1/1 to 4/1 at Odaiba) is said to be scheduled to be broadcasted in 10 countries including Singapore and other SEA countries. for Singapore, guess we got to have SCV, coz it's on Azio channel again.. (wah~ i dun have SCV.. ><)

realise the way NewS are promoted is really 'overseas'.. they really want to go global~~

can anyone give the timings.. me want to watch but must plan schedule.. onegai..

i'm not sure of the timings coz i dun have SCV myself. sorry abt that. anyway, as usual, i hope i can d/l the performance.. heard that they performed some KinKi Kids songs.. so would want to see that for myself.. but then i was there at Odaiba on the 4th.. took some pics of the decorations they had there.. the concert goods are really nice actually, but i didn't buy any..

btw, i think Yamapi's new drama 'Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni' is going to be shown next wk.. i was shocked that it's a love story of him and Esumi Makiko's character.. *faint*
