My husband and I decided that Japanese TV was bad for us, too much about food and onsen, so we ended up just unplugging it.

...so says a foreigner living in japan. The link is here, just scroll all the way to the bottom. Wow, what a waste of resource, able to watch anything JPN shows, but chooses not to.

When I was in Japan, it's kind of hard if you are a J!-ENT fan because there are many things good on TV well early afternoon and evening (mornings are news/variety shows and drama replays) but that was when I found it a good time to go shopping in Shibuya, Harajuku or Shinjuku.

Anyone on here try to visit many areas in Japan that they see from Japanese dramas?

Yep. in okinawa, it's too hot, so it's not ok to do it. but we went to a bunch of places in the mainland during several winters and it's the BEAST! There are several levels of bathhouses. The local mom+pop bathhouses, which all the neighborhood people frequent, and then the exotic locales, in all parts of JPN. This one usually is taken with a bunch of tourist, on a bus to whereever (we were in wakayama for one winter), and usually comes with a HUGE japanese feast afterwards. Highly recommend it if/when anyone visits mainland JPN.

Hehe! It was only an individual couple's statement. Just ignore it. Besides they are foreigners in Japan. I don't think they have settled down, a home sick has struck on them, perhaps? I wouldn't mind watchin food and onsen programmes on tv since we have crappy programme selections over here Sweat too much the same!

Same here. I got the habbit of just turning it on without even watching it. Turning on television it's like a ritual nowadays...I'm so worst. Bleah
