Rule of thumb, if trading never make trades that are too large to have them fail. People DO rip others off constantly and everyone here has different amounts of money so it differs to what risk people are willing to take. Personally I won't send more than > 5 dvds or purchase dvds/cds from people I don't know that cost > $20.
About the legality issue that something illegal is simply illegal, I'd have to agree with ajb, but what has more significance to most of us is how much damage we're really doing. If my brother can download a song and get sued $150,000 or a person can get pulled over for driving while intoxicated and have to spend a few $100, though the monetary crime is much less for driving under the influence, I'd much rather see people downloading songs than potentially killing themselves or other persons while driving drunk. The law in the United States eventually boils down to fiscal policy and those with more power will make heftier fines for what they think to be wrong, regardless of how wrong a crime may generally be socially considered.
Therefore I suggest if you break the law, be prepared for the consequences as ignorance is not an excuse. However, if what you're doing gives you no guilt and disagree with the law, then do what your heart thinks is right and say "fuck you" to the fat bastard that thinks your actions entitle him to milions of dollars, and if you have the conviction, take him on and get the laws changed. However, it's much easier to make a law than to recind one, and people are generally lazy when it comes to political involvement; hence our legal system will continue to be bombarded with more stupid laws and eventually we'll all find ourselves lawyers only able to survive by stealing from each other since everyone producing a good or service has turned lawyer, nobody is working anymore, and we're all criminals.

People find me via my web page. If you search for "japanese drama trading" on Google, my page comes up number 3. Technically, it's really number 1 because the first two haven't been updated in almost 4 years.
People also find me at two other places:
KIKU-TV message board... This is because I'm known there for providing episodes for people in Hawaii who forget to put their VCR on.
d-addicts tracker and forum... I use this tracker to start spreading my own captures, and to basically get my name out there. And it's working... Many people have e-mailed me directly wanting to snail-mail trade the stuff I'm seeding.
As for the the trading process.... Each person has his/her own unique way of going about it. The best advice I can give a newbie trader is to think a lot about how you want the trading process to end, then consider things you need to do to achieve that result. The MOST important thing every successful and popular trader achieves is clear and timely communications. Don't promise the world. Don't over-trade! Keep in mind that the quality of the trade is more important then just the speed of the trade... People won't mind two to three weeks to complete a trade, just as long as you make the other trader aware of that. Try handling two or three trades at one time, and no more than that. If people inquire about trading and you're heavily loaded with trades, it's perfectly okay to turn people away.

Okay thanks for those indications, but, well those means of settling do not appear as very efficient to me ...
well we should start a channel =)
on anniverse one of us started #jtraders so we should gather here to exchange through internet or to settle mail-exchanges.
I personnaly only possess GTO and beautiful life
but here is my mail for those who would like to recieve those series =)
[email protected] (it's my msn address to)
we should also create a mail-list and trade our lists of dramas
anyone who wants to help me to democratise trade please come at #jtraders on anniverse ; my nick : Battle48

Well, that's why I said that each person has his/her own unique way of going about settling their trades. However, the way I go about it is very effective... My inventory of Jdoramas was accumulated only within the past six months of trading, and IMHO it's rather quite impressive.

BTW, your suggestions on IRC, etc. is getting to be off-topic on this thread. I suggest you create a new thread and exchange your ideas there.
