Good links guys!
And you were right, Beemer. It didn't even occur to me that there were no subs for Miki's "Another Sky" until the 4th time I'd seen it. _________________

Miki Nakatani stars in "Hankyu Densha" movie
Tue, August 3, 2010 (8:01pm EDT)
Miki Nakatani will once again be playing an unfortunate woman in her next major movie role. She has been cast as the star of "Hankyu Densha," a movie adaptation of the novel of the same name by Hiro Arikawa ("Toshokan Sensou"). Erika Toda has also been cast.
"Hankyu Densha" tells the story of various people with their own troubles, whose encounters with other people while riding the train lead them to take life-changing steps. The central setting of the film is the local Imazu Line of the Hankyu Railway, which runs in the Hyogo prefecture connecting the cities of Nishinomiya and Takarazuka.
Although the film follows several characters, Nakatani's character will be at the center of the story. She plays an OL in her 30s who was engaged to her boyfriend when she entered her company, but he was stolen away by a younger co-worker. Meanwhile, Toda plays a college student with a good-for-nothing boyfriend. Other characters include a housewife who has trouble making friends and a high school student who is worried about her course in life.
Nakatani previously played the "unfortunate character" in movies such as "Memories of Matsuko" and "Jigyaku no Uta."
"Hankyu Densha" is scheduled to start filming this December. Theatrical release is planned for early summer 2011.

Nakatani Miki to make stage debut in Canada
April 13, 2011
Actress Nakatani Miki has never appeared in a theatrical play before, but now she will be starring in one that will be first performed in Canada before coming to Japan. The play is being directed by Francois Girard, who also directed the 2007 movie gSilkh that Nakatani appeared in.
The production is based on Inoue Yasushifs 1949 short novel gRyoju,h a tale about a hunter and his affair over a 13-year span. A friend of Girard recommended the book to him while he was filming gSilk.h After reading it, he decided to adapt it to the stage, and he chose Nakatani as the lead actress. She will play three roles as the hunterfs wife, his mistress, and his mistressf child.
Dancer and actor Rodrigue Proteau has been cast as the hunter. The playfs staff include members of gZED,h the Cirque du Soleil show that is performed at the Tokyo Disney Resort.
Rehearsals for the play begin in Canada this August. It will be performed in Montreal at Usine C on September 14-17, then in Shibuya, Tokyo, at the PARCO Theater on October 3-23.

As noted above it's now confirmed that her first play will be opening up in Canada.
On July 8th, actress Nakatani Miki made an appearance at the production announcement for her first stage performance, gRyojuuh (produced and directed by François Girard).
This stage play is based on the novel of the same title by Inoue Yasushi and is a romantic love story. Even though this will be the first time Nakatani will be performing in a play, she will be in charge of three roles for this work. Her first performance will be held overseas in Montreal, Canada from September 7th to 10th. Regarding this, Nakatani expressed, gAt first, I thought ea person away from home doesnft need to feel shamef but I am somewhat afraid as it is acceptable for foreign audiences to leave the theater if they do not like the contents of the play.h She continued, gRight now, the world continues to observe Japan so I want to convey the strength of the Japanese [with this play].h
The Tokyo performance will occur from October 3rd to 23rd at Shibuya PARCO Theater.

Miki Nakatani to star in Fuji TV 2015 Winter drama "Ghost Writer"
Nakatani Miki will be taking on the leading role in a drama series for the first time in 13 years when she appears in the upcoming FujiTV Winter 2015 drama "Ghost Writer" due to begin its run from Jan in the Tuesdays 9pm timeslot. Her last drama where she had a leading role was in the 2002 FujiTV drama "Koi suru Top Lady".
This time, Nakatani will play the role of a popular writer Risa who is facing writer's block and asks her assistant Yuki (Mizukawa Asami) who dreams of being a novelist one day, to be her ghost writer in order to get over the crisis. While feeling troubled over how she has to lie to maintain her status as a popular writer, she also has to deal with the challenge from Yuki who also has talent and is capable of making it on her own.
The storyline is very similar to the ghost writer scandal which happened in February this year when Samuragochi Mamoru, a composer who had been said to be fully blind, was caught for having a "ghost writer" for the past 18 years as some of his works were composed by a contemporary musician and teacher Niigaki Takashi but released in Samuragochi's name. When asked about this resemblance, the production crew acknowledged that it had used the scandal as a reference but stressed that the theme of people having to pretend to be someone who they aren't in reality and the pain of going through that was something which everyone could identify with. Besides, they wanted to highlight the topic of making mistakes which are irreversible that would be of interest to the viewers who would want to find out what happens to Risa and Yuki in the end.
Nakatani and Mizukawa last worked together 14 years ago in the TV Asahi drama "R-17". Co-stars include Miura Shohei, Nanao and Tanaka Tetsushi.

Miki Nakatani to star in TBS Spring 2016 drama
Nakatani Miki will be starring in the new TBS Spring 2016 drama "Watashi kekkon dekinainjanakute, shinain desu" (It's not that I can't get married, I just don't do it) which will begin its run from April 2016 in the Fridays 10pm timeslot. The drama is based on the romance manual book "Sparta Kekkon Juku" (Sparta Marriage Cram School) published by Mizuno Keiya in 2014 and is targeted at women to teach them how to break their misconceptions about romance by addressing issues from a man's perspective. It was made into a manga and drama titled "LOVE Riron" (Love Theory) which was shown on TV Tokyo this year. The scriptwriter for this drama will be Kaneko Arisa.
Nakatani plays the role of a 39-year-old single dermatologist named Tachibana Miyabi who operates her own clinic in the upscale area of Aoyama. Despite being beautiful and rich (annual salary of 15 million yen), she is regarded as a "left-behind" item in the dating market even though she enjoys her single life. One day, Miyabi visits a Japanese kappou cuisine restaurant with her female friends and starts bragging that she can get married anytime she wants to. Upon hearing this, Miyabi gets criticised by the owner of the restaurant named Tokura Seiji for being a woman who can't get married because she's pretty, rich and about 40 years old. This is the first time when she is told the harsh truth by someone and she finds herself going to Tokura for advice on romance in order to reverse this situation. Seto Koji will play Hashimoto Ryotaro who works at an organic cafe's delivery staff and is well-liked by the staff at Miyabi's clinic. Omasa Aya plays Nomura Rika who tries very hard to find a marriage partner even though she is only in her mid 30s. Tokui Yoshimi from the comedy duo Tutorial will play Sakurai Yosuke, a salaryman who was Miyabi's classmate and first love during senior high school and becomes her target again when they reunite. Last but not least, Natsuki Mari will play Shoko, Miyabi's mother who loves her daughter much and always appears in a kimono.
Nakatani commented that when she read the original book and script, she thought that Miyabi and her were very similar because they both have the same thinking. However, she started to worry if she was overly confident and started to doubt whether she is someone who can't get married. Especially when she saw in the book that there were recommendations on what type of clothes to wear in order to attract the attention of men, Nakatani said that those were clothes she would never wear so she would have to try them for the sake of this drama. She also hopes that this drama with some strong and poisonous words as well as a little bit of eroticism, will bring some hope to women who have been trying too hard and give them the courage to carry on in their pursuit towards their goals.
