Yay! Thanks for sharing! ^^
Now I got to look up the time it's showing here on tv. |
I watched it tonight on ABC in 16:9. it was interesting. But I would rather see her in Jdramas. It was not the Yuko chan that I like. She did not really speak any English... all her dialogue was subtitled. I recorded most of it and will probably put some of the scenes on YouTube. I'll watch it again and see if the 2nd viewing will change my mind.

Me too, but now that she has a son, I doubt very much that she will be a lead actress in another drama. It's so time-consuming and probably doesn't pay as well. She has only done movies since Bara no nai Hanaya.

Aw, that's too bad.
I've been lurking the FlashForward forums, and alot of american fans like Yuko as Keiko. They said she's smart, accomplished, gorgeous, cool and gutsy
IF Yuko continues her captivating performance and she's really, actually going to have an important role here, I have a feeling she'll be popular soon in US. |
^__^ I think so too, she's so likeable. I wish we get to see her smile more.

True she might become popular mostly since it is a novelty to have a prominent character on an American TV series that does not speak english (yet). For me I'm too spoiled watching her in Jdramas to appreciate seeing her on American TV which I mostly shun. Maybe in time this new approach will grow on me.

I looked it up, it's showing on Monday 8:30pm here (in Aus) actually.
But yes, I think I am going to download it instead.

Yuko's character seemed a little confused? Or may be I am the confused one. I don't understand why she didn't say anything when the guy spoke Japanese. Is her flash forward the same as Dr Bryce's? Or did she see something different? |
I think they had the same Flash. She was in the bathroom when it hit her and that's how the scene ends with her on the bathroom floor after the flash. I did not really watch this, could not get interested. When I get time I'll watch it again. Are you going to watch it on your TV?

Kusanagi, Takeuchi reunite in "Boku to Tsuma no 1778 no Monogatari"
Sat, November 21, 2009 (8:56pm EST)
SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (35) and actress Yuko Takeuchi (29) will co-star in a new movie titled "Boku to Tsuma no 1778 no Monogatari." The pair previously acted together in Akihiko Shiota's box office hit "Yomigaeri" in 2003.
"Boku to Tsuma" is based on the real-life story of science fiction writer Taku Mayumura (75) and his wife Setsuko, who died of colon cancer in 2002. Mayumura took the advice of a doctor who said that laughter helps the immune system, and he wrote a short story every day for Setsuko. Initially, she was expected to live for only a year, but she didn't die until five years later, after a total of 1,778 stories.
Kusanagi's character, modeled after Mayumura, is a sci-fi author named Sakutaro Makimura. Takeuchi plays his wife Setsuko. Other characters are played by Shosuke Tanihara, Michiko Kichise, and Ren Osugi.
The movie is being directed by Mamoru Hoshi, whose credits include the television dramas "Boku no Ikiru Michi" and "Boku no Aruku Michi," which both starred Kusanagi. Filming started last month and is scheduled to finish on December 26. Toho plans to have the film screened overseas, including at Cannes in May, with a theatrical release the following winter.

Didn't understand a word but still found it very interesting. I'm always amazed at the tradition of giving the actor a flower bouquet after their last taping. I've never seen that on the set of an American production. It's really a very nice curteous "thank you" to the actor.
