People who badmouth SMAP or any other performer. They don't know that they don't know.
I have followed SMAP for almost twenty years and they have indeed grown into most professional entertainers and they know just who and what they are. They do anything that is required and sometimes the gigs are downright scary.

they can make me laugh and enjoy the songs and they obviously enjoy most of what they do. In some cases they remind me of the old Dean Martin show. His great singing was secondary to his comedy at times.
Their 'not so great singing' does not hold them back from doing their best to entertain people

SMAP will be releasing their 20th new album �eGIFT of SMAP�e on August 8th.

The album includes their latest singles �gSakasama no Sora�h and �ggift�g, which is currently a CM song for �e2012 Seven & I no Natsu gift�e. Kanno Yoko, Shiina Ringo, MONKEY MAJIK, THE BAWDIES have been announced as artists featuring on the album.

�eGIFT of SMAP�f comes with two discs, and there will be 4 versions: limited edition, regular edition, Seven net edition, and special limited edition. Each song comes in one disc for the special limited edition, so this edition will come with a total of 19 discs and jacket covers for each disc. The box for the special limited edition will be covered with gold and silver gilding. The price is set at 11,111 yen ($138.13 USD).

Additionally, �ggift�h will be distributed as a Chaku-Uta Full ringtone on June 27th through Recochoku, Johnny�fs web and dwango.

SMAP will also hold five Dome tours to coincide with this album�fs release. The group was the first artist to hold five Dome tours back in 2011. The tour date and ticket information will be updated around the beginning of July.

Playwright Nojima Shinji was the lyrcist for �gLion Heart�h and will once again write the lyrics for �gAngel Heart�h . While �gLion Heart�h is about the guy�fs feelings in a relationship, �gAngel Heart�h will be from the woman�fs perspective. SMAP to release 'Gift of SMAP Concert' on DVD


SMAP�fs concert DVD, �eGIFT of SMAP CONCERT�f2012�e, will be released on December 5th.

The DVD will feature SMAP�fs nationwide tour, �eGIFT of SMAP –CONCERT TOUR�f2012-�e, which kicked off on August 23rd. This tour was a gift from SMAP to their fans, and it was also held to coincide their latest album, �gGIFT of SMAP�g.

The DVD will come as a 3-disc set. DISC 1 and DISC 2 will contain SMAP�fs Tokyo Dome performance from opening to end. Meanwhile, DISC 3 will enclose an hour and 40 minutes worth of special footage. These include rehearsal and backstage footage as well as a special performance from Katori Shingo and Yamashita Tomohisa�fs new unit �eTHE MONSTERS�e.

Those who purchase the DVD will have a chance to be invited to SMAP�fs secret party.

New SMAP single February 27th

SMAP�fs 49th single will be a double A-side. One of the tracks, titled �gMistake!�g, has been picked up as the theme song for Fuji TV�fs �gSMAP�~SMAP�g. It was written by Ishiwatari Junji, composed by HIKARI, and arranged by CMJK.

The single will be released in four different versions: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, Limited Edition C, and a Regular Edition. Limited Edition A will come with a DVD containing the music video and making-of footage for �gMistake!�h as well as nail stickers.

SMAP to release their 50th single in June

SMAP will be releasing their 50th single, �eJoy!!�e, on June 5th.

The title track is currently being used as the theme song for Kansai TV/Fuji TV�fs tv drama series, �eKasuka na Kanojo�e, starring member Katori Shingo. It was written and composed by Akai Kouen�fs Tsuno Maisa.

The video shoot for �gJoy!!�h on April 24th included participation by 1,000 extras and dancers, along with the students from teacher Kamiya Akira�fs (played by Katori) class. World renown dance artist KENTO MORI was in charge of the choreography.

Regarding the collaboration with SMAP, KENTO commented, �gTogether with SMAP, I wanted to express the power of dance that goes beyond one�fs occupation and religion connecting the hearts of people.�h This PV can be found in the single�fs bonus DVD.

SMAP to appear together in live "Furuhata Ninzaburo" sequel

There will be a sequel to the drama "Furuhata Ninzaburo VS SMAP", in which all SMAP members appeared as themselves.

It will be their first drama in 14 years to appear all together, and moreover, their first live-broadcasting drama ever.

"Furuhata Ninzaburo VS SMAP", which was aired back in January 1999, was about SMAP members cooperating together to kill a man who was threatening member Kusanagi Tsusyoshi. They thought they committed a perfect crime, but it was uncovered by detective "Furuhata Ninzaburo" (played by Tamura Masakazu).

The sequel will be set 14 years later from the incident. SMAP members have become convicts, and they will be planning to break out of jail for its plot.

Just like the previous one, this sequel is written by Mitani Koki, who is also in charge of the direction.

Along with SMAP, Toda Keiko will also be making an appearance as SMAP's manager once again.

It will be aired as a part of the Fuji TV's 55th anniversary special live broadcasting program "SMAP GO! GO!" (to be aired on the 30th, 7:00 ~ 11:24 pm).

SMAP to release 51st single next month

SMAP will be releasing their 51st single "Shareotsu / Hello" on December 18.

"Shareotsu" is currently being used as the theme song for Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's starring drama 'Dokushin Kizoku'. The lyrics were written by 6-member Ossan's vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist Otake Osaku.

Meanwhile, "Hello" was written as the official song for Hello Kitty's 40th anniversary. It's a ballad written and composed by Ozaki Sekaikan of creephyp.

The single will be released in 3 different types: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, and Regular Edition. Limited Edition A will come with a video clip DVD for "Shareotsu", while Limited Edition B will come with a video clip DVD for "Hello". Furthermore, the first press Regular Edition will include a photo book featuring photos from the fashion show '2013 AUTUMN WINTER COLLECTION: SHARE-OTSU'.

There will also be a campaign for those who purchase all 3 types of the single. Those who win will receive prizes such as an invitation to an event, Hello Kitty 40th anniversary goods, and a DVD containing the making-of footage for the single.

SMAP to release their 52nd single in April

SMAP will be releasing their 52nd single "Yes we are / Koko Kara" on April 9th.

The group's first single of 2014 is a double A-side including "Koko Kara" which was written and composed by Wada Sho (TRICERATOPS), and "Yes we are" which was written and composed by Sakai Yu and arranged by Mori Toshiyuki.

"Koko Kara" was written as the project song for Nihonbashi's community development. It will support Nihonbashi as "a city where people who gather can flap their wings into the future and the world." Meanwhile, "Yes we are" will be used as the theme song for TBS' news program 'N Sta' from April.

The single will be released in 4 different versions: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, Regular Edition, and a Limited Edition for the grand opening of 'COREDO Muromachi' in Nihonbashi. The Limited Edition A DVD will contain the PV for "Yes we are" and the Limited Edition B DVD will contain the PV for "Koko Kara". Aside the two title tracks, the Regular Edition will include one more song.

SMAP's 53rd single tops Oricon charts

SMAP's 53rd single "Top Of The World / Amazing Discovery" sold 123,000 copies in the first week, allowing the group to top the latest Oricon weekly ranking.

This is their 20th consecutive chart-topping single since "freebird" (released in May 2002), and the 31st one to top the chart in total.

Also, this marked their 53rd consecutive single ranked in TOP10 since their debut song "Can't Stop!! -Loving-" (released in September 1991), and with this single, they have renewed their own record for the "number of consecutive singles ranked in TOP 10 since debut single" (best record for both male/female and group/solo artists).

SMAP members to appear together in drama SP for the first time in 10 years

SMAP members will be acting together for the first time in 10 years in the drama SP "Oretachi ni ashita wa aru" (We have a tomorrow) which is due to be shown during the "SMAPxFNS 27 Jikan Terebi" programme. The broadcast timeslot will be at 9.45pm on 26 July where the story features the members as themselves and rumours of the group disbanding start circulating online which leads everyone to be caught in a huge frenzy due to the media attention. There will be scenes of cameras following the members around so viewers can get to see them engaged in their private activities such as Kimura Takuya surfing at the beach on his off-day. There will also be as many as 77 guest stars appearing as themselves in the 90-minute long drama SP.

This is the first time in 10 years since the members appeared together in a drama after 2004's "X'smap ~ Tora to Lion to Gonin no Otoko".

SMAP announces new album and tour

SMAP will release their new album "Mr.S" on September 3. Starting the day after, September 4, the group will embark on a nationwide tour called 'Mr.S -SAIKOU DE SAIKOU NO CONCERT TOUR-'.

Both the album and tour have been established under the theme "Mr.S -SAITEI DE SAIKOU NO OTOKO-". The theme represents a mysterious man who has an adult dandyism who can change the atmosphere on the spot, and who can capture not only women, but men with that behavior. In addition, the man has two conflicting personalities, such as "energetic yet cool", "cute yet sexy", and "malicious yet kind".

"Mr.S" will be SMAP's 21st original album, and it's also their first since releasing "GIFT of SMAP" about 2 years ago. Although the track list has not been revealed at this time, it is known that it will come with 2 discs, and that it will come in 3 different versions: Limited Edition, Regular Edition, and Special Edition. The Limited Edition DVD will contain the PV for "Mr.S -SAITEI DE SAIKOU NO OTOKO-", while the Special Edition will include a clutch bag with a "Mr.S" logo.

As for the tour, SMAP will perform at 6 different domes: Tokyo Dome, Kyocera Dome Osaka, Sapporo Dome, Nagoya Dome, and Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome. They are scheduled to perform for over 1 million guests in 22 locations. SMAP hasn't held a tour this big since 'Pop Up! SMAP -Tobimasu! Dobidasu! Tobisuma? TOUR-' in 2006.

Details on new SMAP album 'Mr. S'

The details on SMAP's new album "Mr.S", which will drop in stores on September 3, has been revealed.

The album will come with 2 discs and will contain a total of 17 songs. Some of the people who will be involved with the album are Kawatani Enon (indigo la End, Gesu no Kiwami Otome.), Moriyama Naotaro, ��Taku Takahashi (m-flo, block.fm), LEO Imai, Koji Nakamura, and SALU. While Nakamura has produced the theme song for last year's 'SMAP SHOP' that opened at Akasaka Sacas, this will be his first time providing a song under SMAP's name. In addition, the first and last songs on the album, titled "Theme of Mr.S", will be composed and arranged by Takarazuka Revue's Ota Takeshi.

Furthermore, artists who have previously worked with SMAP, such as Sakai Yu, Wada Makoto (TRICERATOPS), and TK (Ling Tosite Sigure), will also be lending their hand. They will each provide SMAP with a brand new song.

SMAP Shop to open December 10th

'SMAP SHOP' will open at Akasaka Sacas again this year.

Every year, SMAP opens their official shop to thank fans for their support throughout the year. The theme of this year's shop has been decided as "Saikou de Saikou no Smap Shop 2014-2015" in association with the theme of this year's album and tour "Mr.S -SAITEI DE SAIKOU NO OTOKO-". The shop will open for a limited time from December 10 to January 6.


The shop will carry a variety of limited edition goods such as "Saikou de Saikou no Smap" CDs, mugs, gloves, and clutch bags. In addition, SMAP's live DVD / Blu-ray "Mr.S -SAIKOU DE SAIKOU NO CONCERT TOUR-" will be sold in a SMAP SHOP Limited Edition that comes with a 32-page booklet and special footage called "Single Selection".

SMAP top Oricon single chart for 32nd time

SMAP's 54th single "Kareinaru Gyakushu / Humor Shichauyo" which went on sale on February 18, topped Oricon's latest weekly ranking, selling 160,000 copies in the first week.

This is their 21st consecutive chart topping single, and 32nd overall.

When including the sales for this single, the group's total number of singles and albums sold have reached 35,158,000 copies. They are the 4th male artist to reach the 35 million sale threshold, following B'z (81.683 million), Mr.Children (58.616 million), and GLAY (38.479 million).

"Karei naru Gyakushu / Humor Shichauyo" also became their 54th single ranked in the top 10, and it allowed SMAP to renew their own record for "the number of consecutive top 10 works since their debut."
