hi, i'm new here..
i wanna ask if anyone knows the jap title of that movie that was on channel 56, 8pm on wed 24 sept. i only know that the eng title is something like towards a bright direction... its the one with matsu takako... thanx a lot, and if anyone knows anything bt the movie, can pls tell me...
Hmmm...Given the singer/actress I'm seeing a LOT of on this thread, I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Wasabi" & Poppoya". I know Wasabi is a French production, but it was filmed on location in Tokyo with Ryoko...
"Sennen Tabito" (with Toyo-Etsu), "The Exam", "Maborosi", "Turn 2:15" and Beat Takeshi's "A Scene at the Sea" are also very worthwhile. Dog Star is probably not...

I think Wasabi was mentioned in other threads. Popoya, The Railroad man? Aah! I've had the movie long ago, still haven't watched it. I was plannin to watch it this weekend. I'm sure it's a good drama movie.
I've seen wasabi too - but I was quite disappointed because it's not as good as Luc Besson's other works. The only good point of that movie is Jean Reno and also a very surprising Ryoko's fluency in speaking french. Although the movie was a bit funny still I did not consider it as good.

Got home from the centre a little while ago. Drive was sold out but I managed to buy one ticket, hehe. It was a small theatre, approx. 110 seats but quite cozy. What we do expect from Drive? *may contain spoilers* Sabu is known for his bizarre movies and this movie is no exception, hehe. Another Sabu movie loaded with irony, typical "sabu humours" and dark theme, hehe. A Very funny movie, I laughed at several scenes Not much of a story in the movie. The actors performed quite well, we get to see Sabu's cameo appearance, hahahaa!
Overall an ok movie packed with loads of humours and "offtopic-things",
*spoilers ahead*
You actually liked Drive?? ACK! I thought it was terrible not to mention the whole reason i rented it was becuase they promoted the fact that Shibasaki Kou was in it. Shes on the cover and everything... you see shibasaki kou for like 1minute at the beginning of the movie and then a hour into the movie later she pops up for a few more minutes and it ends...what the HELL?! grrr....
someone also recommended VERSUS as a good movie.... VERSUS is on my list of the top 10 worst movies of ALL TIME?! someone musta been smoking some good WEED to have actually ENJOYED...err no be able to SIT through that movie!
Versus is not for everyone to see I guess. But the fighting scene was okay to watch. I'd still prefer to watch Versus again rather than "princess blade" (Sooo boring! but still have a good fighting scene.) However, the idea of making versus is original. The story is simple (battle of good VERSUS evil ) but the bad point is that it took so long to end it.
I've seen a very dark movie (that's in my point of view), so dark it was made in black and white. It's called "Sunna no Onna" goodness...That movie is too weird, I went eh? half the way and did not continue it. There's another Jmovie called "City of Lost Soul/ The Hazard City" I think Takashi Miike made it (correct me if I'm wrong), I really hate it and felt a annoyed watching it.
People may have different opinion about movie they watched. I found Battle Royale quite repulsive and violent the first time I watched it, but after I watched the second time, I have changed my mind. The movie really did send a message after all.
Anyway, J movie is very unique. They sometime made the unthinkable story or pioneering something that people would not have thought about it before.
Higuchinsky's Uzumaki star Erika Hatsune n Ren Osugi..Check them out...Scarry?
Is that the one with the girl who has that spiral hair? I almost bought it. The theme of that movie is somewhat weird- a girl obsessed with spiral things including her hair? Sounded so Psycho. This is one of the reason why I opine that J-movie came out with unthinkable story.
I think I've had enough of J-horror for a while (Ring 1,2,0- Ring Spiral, Dark Water, Isola, Ju-on, Versus, Kakashi ).
I'm in the mood for comedy..anybody can suggest me?

hey akakage, i'm just curious what do you think about the movie "akakage" red shadow.
i think its very strange movie, too much comedy less ninja action.
Well..someone has already answer it. Can't wait for Kate Beckinsale to kick some ass...she's been doing romantic movie most of the time, it's time to see her ability to do some sci-fi movie yay!
Akakage? ha..ha..There's a ninja movie with a twist that's why I like it! I'm sort of looking for something different in Ninja or Samurai Film. Have seen enough serious one. At the moment I'm still waiting for "Azumi" who's directed by the same guy that made "Versus" and "Alive", perhaps I can see more fighting scene.
