I listened to Pimsleur before and I don't think that they are ffective :-/
I have many Japanese learning Videos (I think they play in the 80s but they are very good for everyday Japanese and listening to natives) Besides that it seemed to me like Pimsleur isn't even spoken by natives O_o But I'm not sure about it.
I was uploading the Japanese Videos for my friends and for some time in my Board however I stopped that stuff some time before.

However I got the Pimsleur lessons in OGG format (the filesize is small, like 120 mb each Pimsleur 1 - 3) If you prefer those for BT.... because I think it's not worth to get them if they are 1 gig. But you must now. I'm willing to send the files (inclusive booklets) to someone with a fast upload speed and the knowledge to create a working BT file.

edit: just saw the other thread... I got these ones mentioned here

Does anyone still needs seeds to complete? If so I can seed it for a while, however if you are going to start the file from the beginning I would recommend someone with a bit faster upload than mine (I have just 20 kb maximum upload)

Yeah, I've noticed the woman speaker in the Pimsleur Japanese series sounds *very* unnatural sometimes. I don't think she's native at all. The male voice(s) sound fine to me though...

I've been going thru Japanese 2 and 3 and I'll have to agree that its not a good idea for beginners to start with Pimsleur but its great for people who know the basics already and need work on their listening & speaking skills... like me. My listening skills were so bad, I basically guessed the entire listening section of my JLPT 3 test. kekeke... Big Grin

i think that listening to real thing is the best way! becaus just like your language it has slang or thigs that just sound different then just reading..... i recomend for native language is the internet radio... that way you can hear real talk.

i have found a great radio station that helps with real conversations on the Real One player if you go to there music siction and do a serch for japan you can find all the japanese stuff like my fav Japan-A-Radio ... but dont go there haha for the talking thats music haha.
for talking go to ... umm ... i think its Senkakuyama where they have japanese conversations this is only on Real One player sorry..
Japan-A-Radion is on Real One player and iTunes wich is for mac. and windows...
i hope that helps becaus hearing the real thing can help a lot and what is the bigest braking point in learning is when you start to hear stutters and ppl correcting them selves in japanese that is a big brake through in learning the language of japanese

like i say befor i hope that helps some ppl Smile

i got mine off of anime.mircx.com but the links are no longer there (they have a 1 week retention period only). But they havent released the ogg version of lesson 3 so keep an eye out. Coz when they release stuff on anime.mircx.com, there usually is a link to the releaser's homepage and u should be able to get the other files from there.

Coincidentally, I pulled 1, 2, and 3 off the newsgroups just a few days ago. They're all in PDF/MP3 formats. Is this something worth BT'ing?

Quite a while ago I posted the BT for the pimsleur courses (ogg+mp3 versions) but not a single one was interested, quite strange Smile

The site is still up and working, so search the forum and you'll find the BT link for lvl1 and lvl2 + booklets and some books.

lvl3 is almost finished and will probably be posted in a week or so

Just in case you're recording it to a minidisc or mp3 player, i dont think OGG is compatible...unless you convert them. but then you'd have to convert all 85 lessons....might take a while...

i just downloaded the mp3 files, and it sounds like the level 2 (and maybe level 3) files are from a different edition...does anyone know if that is true, or if it makes a difference?
