I alwayz hear people say "gets"... wat does it mean? last tiem i hear kinki kids, w-inds., FLAME all say it...BUT WAT DOES IT MEAN? it makes no sense 2 me....

are you sure they are saying GETS??? how is it used in the song? are u sure they arent saying "get" ??? japanese often use the word "get" i dont know about GETS

I've wondered about that too... last week I saw a guy performing some song live, and part of the title was GET'S!, apostrophe and all. And every time he said GET'S, he did this goofy, kinda suggestive, two-handed index-finger-pointing thing. o_O I'm very interested in finding out what that's all about if anyone ever finds out...

yea i mean when the word "GET" is ussualy used it would be in a situation where like, say you and some of your girlfriends are in a club and one of them comes running back to you and says like "Hey i got that guys number! whoo hoo!" Then they would probably say "yea! GET!" meaning like yes got his number. With a Japanese accent GET sounds more like "GET *pause* TO" GETTO! maybe thats what you heard in the song? i dunno i still haven't heard the song yet

I heard many times that word, "GETS", and I'm pretty sure about the sound. It wasn't "GET" or "GETTO", and "GETSU" (written in kana) doesn't mean anything.

Even my girlfriend, who's japanese, doesn't know the meaning! So the huge question now is: my friends, will a gaijin know one day the meaning of "gets"?

after this thread came on it's amazing how many times i have heard the word.. i'm sure it can mean lots of things.. people have used it for every thing i can imagine... i think it's cool though..

No idea...I think the episode i watched was already a few months old..possibly even from 2002

Everyone uses it now, including me.

Gets kinda annoying when everyone is shouting GETS! for no reason at all.

i asked my japanese friends in college... but they don't know what it means exactly ..... so they just say its an expression.. when ur happy or excited

It's a craze that has blown over now, but it was really popular.
I spose you could compare it to the whole 'Dude' and 'Sweet!' thing that came anlong with 'dude wheres my car'.

I personally think he was adorable, but you really needed to see him on shows like utaban and stuff to enjoy his certain comedic flavour *g*.

I agree with ppl that the whole �Q�b�c�Ithing was blown out of proportion, hence people gettting sick of it.

As for what 'gets' means, it is quite literal, like obtain or get. however, it can be used in the sort of context where it means something along the lines of 'scored' or 'gotten laid'. But dandy *rarely* uses it in that context. *g*
