Finally found a 2010 Nisei Week t-shirt!!
They seem to have gone downhill quite a bit since then. Here's the 2015 version:
You'd think for the 75th anniversary they'd have come up with something better than this. Even the lady that was selling them thought they were pretty bad.
Went to check out things yesterday in Little Tokyo... Rather underwhelming: absolutely nothing was going on outside the JACCC... No Taiko, no sumo, nothing.
The Japanese American National Museum was really busy with visitors, though.
Oh man! This is our old Mitsuwa. I want to go so bad. Maybe next year though we can since we hope to move back across the country to SoCal next year....we might move to SD and not LA this time, though - and I see they have a Mitsuwa in SD also! Amazing. Have you ever been to one of these stores?

I get down there once or twice a month. They have a Book-Off in Gardena and I always swing by there as well. Those food fairs can get a little hectic. 20 obaasans all yelling "Irasshaimase!!", not for those with sensitive ears.

Sugoi! I thought you were in whatever country that flag next to your name is.
I do remember those food fests being pretty loud. I think we always made a beeline for the Santouka Ramen and katsu kare in the food court, not to mention that amazing sashimi they sell to make sushi with (or just eat). We used to live in RB so we'd hop over there on the regular.

The Mitsuwa in San Diego (Kearny Mesa) is a lot smaller than the one in Torrance. There is also a tiny food court there but again, nothing close to the size of the Torrance food court. In addition, only a quarter mile from the Kearny Mesa Mitsuwa are Marukai and Tokyo Central markets.
Kearny Mesa is an area with a plethora of Asian restaurants and business: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai . . . . The number of Asian eateries there easily surpasses 50. And besides the Japanese markets I mentioned, there are a number of other Asian markets there as well.
