No, "mada mada dane" is correct.
It simply means, "not quite there yet, huh?"

Probably the words "ohaiyo". or even still simpler "hai"

I remember thinking "Hey, that sounds like english."

but the one word I remember early on that stuck with me is "Inuyasha" My japanese friend didn't know what it was at first. So that word has a special place in my memory.

silly, huh?

yep, Hello/good morning.

Konnichi wa is used when it's midday or the afternoon.

Very first word I heard was from my mother, actually. She was an army brat, and went around to all sorts of places. Ohayo was the first word I ever heard, and it was from her. I find it funny the first Japanese word I heard was out of a southern American's mouth. LOL

I think the first word I heard from someone who was actually Japanese was arigatou. After that, it was gomen, baka, and nani... Big Grin

My first japanese words was "Sayonara", I heard when I watched Gaban serial at the video I rent when I was in first grade. I always like that kind of serial tv shows, in that time we only can watched it by rent them.

If i remember that time i always laugh becoz of how silly im. Smile)

Konnichiwa, we used to say it in primary school year 4. When we answered the register we weren't allowed to say it in English, they taught us hello/good morning etc. in about 20 different languages and we had to choose one ha ha
But when I actually got into Japan the first words I heard and learnt were the ones that everyone hears/ picks up first

- Kawaii
- Baka
- Hai
- Arigatou

Words like Konnichiwa, mushi mushi, Sayonara were revisited in Secondary School in Geography when we had to do a poster on Japan XD. Oh and they taught us to count to 10 in Japanese in some learning event at school in prep for our GCSE's in year 10/11 I never forgot ^__^ the way they taught us was good. We matched the numbers to actions for example ichi, ni was itchy knee XDD it was fun and effective!!!
Wow I talked a lot!!! Sweat

I don't remember the exact first word, but it should have been something from Ranma and Akane's banter in the anime Ranma 1/2, that was my first contact with Japanese language Smile
