Finished episode 4 of Suteki na Sen Taxi. Yutaka is killing it as the cabby, he's awesome. I also loved the scene of the protagonist of episode 4 getting chased by the irate bus people, it was hilarious.

I didn't know it was illegal in Japan to turn in a winning lottery ticket if you found it. It always cracks me up about those cheesy effects Yutaka puts up so people will think there's a time slip. He always acts surprised when the passenger says, "This is fake. Nothing happened!" hehe

Haha, and in episode 6, he got the passengers to wear goggles! hehe It's hilarious and silly. Was glad to see Kuriyama Chiaki in episode 6, am really liking the guests they pick for each episode.

I didn't know about the lottery ticket rule either, but I think it makes sense. And I like how the twists aren't always the ones we think they are, and how nicely everything works out. It'd be interesting to have an episode where things don't work out, though.

Also started Kagi no Kakatta Heya, about three people who have to solve murders etc in locked rooms. Pretty interesting start so far.

Modoken Quill no Issho. 7-episodes series about the life of a guide dog called Quill and the people he met. Warm and touching, I enjoyed it very much. The labrador was so cute, though I like guide dog before watching the series so am a bit biased.

Finished "Suteki na Sen Taxi". They wrapped it up nicely. They could probably do another season but I don't think they will. It's basically a formula plot. To a certain extent every episode is the same so best to go out now before it gets stale. Yutaka was great and they had a lot of interesting guest stars.

There are some good "time travel" scenarios like "Back To the Future" and then some really bad ones like "Summer Time Machine Blues". "Suteki na Sen Taxi" is one of the good ones.

Also finished "N no Tame Ni". I really liked this drama a lot. Interesting, realistic characters. Good work by all the actors. Especially Nana Eikura who came out of nowhere for me. I had seen in a few other dramas and wasn't real impressed, but boy, she was great in this!! Applaud

My only complaint was that for some reason they had to bring in the "terminal illness" cliche which I thought was totally unnecessary.

As a Kimura fan, you should check out Priceless and Beautiful Life. The latter is a great tearjerker, the former a really fascinating and compelling riches to rags tale. Smile

Wow, you're on top of things. That's it for my Kimutaku frame of reference. I can make lots of other recommendations, though! Hotaru's a good one. Love Shuffle, too, although I think it's an acquired taste. I'll recommend Kekkon Dekinai Otoko as an offbeat romcom. Zenkai Girl is another really compelling, romantic, sweet and funny show.

Finished Kagi no Kakatta Heya and quite enjoyed the various locked-room mysteries. Toda Erika and Sato Koichi made a hilarious lawyer pair, while Ono Satoshi was pretty robotic as his character required. I still have the SP to watch, though.

Started Zannen na Otto and it's pretty funny, I like it even though I'm not into kids! Tamaki Hiroshi was hilarious as the clueless new papa with a basketball obsession and had some nice chemistry with Kurashina Kana. Hope it continues to be good.

All it says here at JDorama is "Synopsis coming soon". Well here it is, it does sound pretty good:

"Morimura Tomomi is a housewife scorned by her husband and two sons, and yet she continues to protect the family. On her 46th birthday, she leaves home in disgust and embarks on a 1,200 km journey. It is Tomomi's first time driving onto the highway and she speeds along to the west. On the road, she encounters a series of traumatising episodes. She detects her husband's affair, is faced with a truck driver who mistakes her for a prostitute housewife, and finally her car gets stolen. While Tomomi is at a loss, a good-looking young man and an elderly person give her a ride, and she arrives in Nagasaki. As she meets various people in this town which was once transformed into a wasteland because of the atomic bomb, she becomes aware of a "wilderness" within her and starts to explore the path to rebirth... "

antspace, about your avatar. Next time you see Joan Jett tell her I think she looks good in a kimono. Good

Finished "Hanako to Anne". Yoshitaka was great as Hanako but the title is kind of misleading. Anybody that thinks by watching this they will get some insight as to why 'Anne of Green Gables' is so popular in Japan will be disappointed. The book isn't even mentioned until there's about three weeks left in the drama and getting it published and sold is only covered in literally the last three episodes.

They should have called it "Hanako to Renko". The subplot involving Yukie and her character took up almost as much time as covering Hanako, and a lot of that I didn't care about at all. I think they should have devoted more time to Hanako and her sisters and brother. It might have been good to show some of what Momo went thru up in Hokkiado, but all we know about that is what Momo told us.

Watched episode 1 of "Mondai no Aru Restaurant": http://www.jdorama.com/drama.2065.htm

Because, well, because Yoko Maki is in it. The way it started and with Dochi Cooking idiot savant YOU in the cast I thought it might be a comedy, but it looks like it will be a serious drama. The "little guy takes on big guy" scenario.

Ken Yasuda might be wondering if he chose the right career. His last drama was "Suteki na Sen Taxi", in episode 1 he was Manami Konishi's boyfriend. Now he plays a cross dressing gay man. The life of an actor is not an easy one.

Marumaru Tsuma......is she a crane spirit? intriguing.

.....this is reminding me of those Japanese folktales....like the woodcutter who rescued the crane, marries her and woodcutter must promise never to reveal the secret........
