Finished Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku. Had trouble believing the romance because I felt little chemistry between the leads, especially in the early episodes.

^^ Keeping along the Otaku theme, up to episode 3 of Akihabara@DEEP, little crazy but really enjoying it. Character of Akira is really so good but she's not listed under the cast list.

Juui Dolittle episode 1. I had low expectation but very impressed with this episode. Oguri Shun and Inoue Mao are just terrific even though their roles are not anything out of the ordinary. The writers have obviously done a lot of research with medical knowledge and serious discussion about the ethical issues involved. And for me, it was successful in drawing the audience into the story and creating drama, although some may feel it was cliche. But apart from that, this felt it had the right balance and there was nothing to criticize. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Besides Narimiya, I'm looking forward to the animals the most, to be honest. Not a fan of Shun or Mao here. _________________

and I'm mentioning it now because to tell the truth... I couldn't care less how this turns out. I'm loving it... and the thing is, it's not going to have a punch line. Or at least, that's my bet.
This one is all about the ride. It's a cross between Jikou Keisatsu, and the first season of "Twin Peeks", and it's fun. It's nonsense -- it's ridiculous -- There are holes in the plot big enough to pull one of their "people puller" fish through --
And if you're looking for a simple solution to the "mystery"... the "mysteries" I expect you'll be disappointed, and probably frustrated.
That's really not what this one's about. This show is about being strange. And it's the most fun I"ve had watching a series in quite a while. _________________

Nagareboshi episode 1. This has elements of some of the classic dramas made in the 90s, but ... it's missing something to be totally absorbing, I am not sure what. I like the feel of Takanouchi's character here, easy going but also calm and reserved.

Found it on LJ, have to admit though they are accurate they're just a tad small to read. Took a 2 break from it to satisfy my addiction to Shibuya 15, watched all 12 episodes in 2 nights, least they're only 24 minutes long. Probably at least the 15th time I've watched it, still the best series to come from there. _________________
SPEC was good. Kase always good, Toda's character was interesting to say the least. Will keep watching this.
Guilty was so-so. Always like watching Kanno, much different character than I've seen her portray. Haven't watched Tamaki in anything other than Nodame. I'll see how far I go with this one...
EDIT: Forgot Tamaki was in Last Christmas.

Just watched the first episode of the new Freeter drama. I thought the topic was handled very well. The freeter in this doesn't seem to have much problems other than his lack of direction and stability, so on average I think it would be a bit worse than this, but the loss of self belief, social contact and its impact on family was all shown intelligently. When I read the initial synopsis, I thought it could be a bit cheesy but I like this first episode. The second half went by very quickly and was over before I knew it. I found out afterwards that it's by one of my favourite writer, the one who wrote "The Way I Live" trilogy. A lot of promise, possibly the pick of the season, definitely looking forward to this. Karina only made a brief appearance, I was surprised by her lack of screen time, but her role will be important later on.

Thanks xploring for checking out all the dramas!
I checked out Guilty myself and I fear it's not a keeper.
Tonight, I'll check out Himitsu - I usually don't read a lot of Japanese literature(simply because not many of the good authors get translated) but I have read Naoki a few years back. Didn't like it much and I wonder how they can strech the story to 10, 11 episodes. On the plus side Shida Mirai

Hope it helps. I only wrote about them because I like to read about other people's impression of the dramas they watched. Like to read about what you think too.

Reinoryokusha.Odagiri.Kyoko no.Uso episode 2. This episode was fun too. ^^ I actually like this one a bit more than the first. The writers added a bit of material not in the original manga. P-chan the piglet was cute.
SPEC episode 1. I enjoyed the unraveling of the case but don't know about the acting of the two leads. I guess their contrasting style are supposed to complement each other, but that didn't work for me, and I can't put together their exaggerated acts to envision complete characters in my mind. The offbeat comedy also felt strange, I was expecting the feel of the show to be much closer to Keizoku's. But it was definitely not boring, will keep watching for the plot.

Wrapped up Akihabara@Deep, really enjoyed it. They had a movie after the series, gonna check that out too. Series was a bit more than I expected, not as Otaku-ish as one might expect, think it made it better for being that way. After the movie, not sure what's up next, time for a little digging in the archives for a more unknown one. _________________
And I was right. It really didn't have a satisfying conclusion.
I'll say it again... I loved it.
I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the strangeness for strangeness sake, I enjoyed the silly red herrings, and the meaningless plot twists. And I enjoyed the fact that though they seemed to come to a solution at the end... it was left so wide open that they could either come back and do another series... or do a couple of movies... if the mood struck them. And if they make more... I'll definitely be there watching.
If you need your mysteries to end with Colonel Mustard, in the Library, bopping someone over the head with a candlestick... this might not be for you. _________________
Holy crap. SPEC ep 3. So many awesome moments, and so very well executed. Things just got REALLY interesting. Sebumi is so bad ass and Toda Erika is actually kind of growing on me. This is definitely my favorite drama of the season so far.

Not really a regular drama, but watching for about the 5th time The Great Horror Family, corny as they come but I really enjoy that kind. Waiting for Shopping Hero and Hancho to finish downloading, both look interesting. _________________
