Yatta!
My download of the dog movie is complete... hopefully, I'll get a chance to watch it this weekend.
Sweet! I'm watching it tomorrow but I hope it's not sad. I hope it's good but I don't want to watch anything sad for a long time. Tired of watching those types. If it's sad then I'll have to put it on the shelf for now. Too much sad stuff gets to me after a while... _________________

I hear ya: life's tough enough as it is without getting put through the wringer by a movie.
Like 7th-key said earlier, it's your typical sentimental dog movie... Not bad, but not great, either.
There's an underlying sadness to the story, to be sure... I thought it was a worthwhile movie to watch, just to see Etsushi-san in a different role from his intense, domineering performance in Go...
And his character in this movie was a polar opposite: kooky, unsure, and considerably more likable.

still 7% downloading 10 Promises To My Dog in AsiaTorrent
I would like to know what you think about Hula Girls before I put it on my list.
I watched Hula Girls I found it so so.
The actors' performance was good all around.
It had important themes like the coal industry depression and emancipation but I felt the story falling in some standard patters. The hula dancing part wasn't inspirational either.
But maybe it was just the fact, that some themes (coal industry depression, dancing, acceptance, different time period) made me compare it to the excellent "Billy Eliot" (UK, 2000).

Thanks, I will skip that one. Your review seems pretty consist with others and the trailers on IMDB. Not my cup of tea. _________________

I finished 10 promises to my dog. I have to stay away from the movies for a while, I am too much of a critic. I found myself laughing when I probably shouldn't have. Strange...
I will say this that there were some funny parts where I did chuckle a little but it wasn't sad at all. I question the ending and the length of this movie was really too long.
But when Etsushi
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
cried in his wife's lap, it was so real! He seems like he can really identify with losing someone and grief. It brought me back to Asheiteru (sorry spelling). He really does cry hard. I couldn't stand to see it but it was short so that was good. When the dog tried on the box hat thing... that was funny he ended up with a square head. hahaha.
Hey I have seen that house in a few dramas. That backyard looks very similar to the one in Hotaru no Hikari with a few slight changes. Way too familiar. That auditorium Hiroshi played in was from Nodame Cantabile, No? I know it was from there
IDK, I like to see Etsushi-san in love-hate tension dramas _________________

I thought it was all rather predictable and melodramatic at times... I liked Etsushi's kookiness, but he needs to shave that cheesy mustache/goatee-ish thing, 'cause it looks... Cheesy.
He obviously can't grow one (like myself), so he shouldn't bother.
