We need a Spotter's Guide like what they have for Formula One. Victory! Peace!

Now with Mission to the Takeda Camp, things are looking interesting. Is anyone a Kitamura Kazuki fan yet?

Is there a Taiga Dorama drinking game? I keep some nigorizake nearby and when the bushi hit the bottle, so do I!

I really like Kitamura Kazuki in everything he does but i don't know why i just can't like him here. i know he suppose to be the wise and quiet one in Tenchijin, but his silence is really getting on my nerve now.
is not really helping with his character's popularity.

but, i am noticing Kagetora more and more now. they could not have chosen anyone better than Tamayama to play the handsome Kagetora.

but couldn't they find another person instead of aibu saki to play his wife, princess Hana? Bonk yet another example that she really can't act. just watch her performance in ep9, 10, 11. the only eps (so far) that she needed to do some acting in front of a camera for some minutes. and she was baaaaaaaaaaad in those minutes. Okay, saw episode 13 that freaked out taroqq. Other than Nagasawa's dress, I didn't think it was that weird.

I know that Oda was supposed to have been "into" western stuff; was this a little extreme?
And yeah, the crucifix would have gotten her beheaded, wouldn't it?

Up to episode 9, one of the better episodes so far IMO.

In all fairness, that likely had more to do with safety. Riding a horse, even in a controlled setting, could be dangerous and unpredictable. A lot of the filming style in Tenchijin makes it look like the director wants to be Francis Ford Copolla, except Copolla knew what he was doing. Everything looks it was done on the cheap. After Fuurin Kazan and Atsuhime, both which looked massive in production, this looks like a high school play.

I'm not liking this series in a similar way to Atsuhime, and I 'm really coming down to the same thing. Disregarding the historical liberties and cheesiness, it's the lack of a single compelling character to carry us through to the end. In a 50+ episode series, it is mandatory to have "larger-than-life" characters that hold you in. Abe Hiroshi as Kenshin did that, but he wasn't the main character and his time was finite. Just like Atsuhime, the best parts of this series was when it wasn't focused on the lead, but instead on the the events of history. Should have just called the series End of the Sengoku and we wouldn't have to deal with the crying EVERY episode.

It doesn't help with baby-faced Tsumabuki Satoshi in the lead. Sweat

Yeah, that's turning me off as well... It's getting to be exasperating.

His definitely a weak actor; not a good thing when he's required to carry the 50 episodes. So what we have is a weak main actor, weak script, weak directing, and an historical figure whose greatest accomplishment in life was being Uesugi Kenshin's underage lover.

I'm not even going to start on Hatsune, the all-knowing wonder ninja. bleh

I don't think he's a weak actor, but I think he's just miscast: he doesn't have the presence to assume a strong, heroic role.

I can only judge him with what I've seen, and all I've seen him in is this. And in this series all I see him doing is crying or smiling while everyone else is made to be subdued or cartoony. But you've probably seen some of his other works so I'll take your word for it.

He's quite good in Orange Days, I must say... His acting persona seems to fit modern times and not something from Japan's past.

I totally agree. it is a HUGE miscast error in this drama. i watched ep 13 last night and still can't take him seriously. they just don't make taigas like they used to. Shake Head
i remember watching my first ever taiga,Takeda Shingen waaaaay back and left such an impression on my mind even till now. Applaud

After Atsuhime I was really looking forward to Tenchijin. In fact, I was counting on it. I really didn't like not having a Taiga episode to watch every week.

But after 15 episodes... I'm bored out of my skull.

Good lord! Who makes a show about a siege? By definition, nothing much happens during a siege, other than people tend to lose weight.

I gave Atsuhime 18 episodes before I finally gave up. So I suppose I can give this one that much. Maybe now that the siege is over something will happen. But truth to tell, after 15 episodes there isn't a single character in this series that I give a rat's *** about.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Kijinnmaru, once Abe left, so did my interest. Pretty sad when you've got a drama with Nagasawa in it and she's NOT the reason it sucks. Shake Head

Wow, the large splash I heard was everyone jumping off the Tenchijin boat. Beaten

Or is Tenchijin Japanese for "Titanic?" hehe
