I'm a fan of the Arial white with black outline myself, the pink just...I dunno, it was odd. It's not the worst hardsub I've seen though (that award goes to Hana Yori Dango and their Old English font...what the HELL were they thinking? ).
Anyways, I wish you the best of luck with the subbing and translation, we'll definitely be thanking much and be appreciative of the work!

Episode 2: Nukeru (Separation) Trailer Synopsis
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Kaoru, who is visiting Yukawa's research lab, shows him a drawing. This drawing may be evidence of an alibi for a murder case. However, Kaoru cannot simply believe in this drawing because it is a rendering of the landscape a 10 year-old boy had seen when he had an out-of-body experience.
The case had happened in a studio apartment within the precinct's jurisdiction. The decomposed body of the office lady who lived in there had been discovered. According to Sakurako, the medical coroner, the cause was death from suffocation due to strangulation four weeks ago. From the estimated time of death, Kaoru and Yuge question insurance agent, Kurita, who was thought to be visiting the victim at the time the incident occurred. However, Kurita claims that he had stopped his car by the riverside to sleep.
By some chance, Kamimura, who knows about the case, mails a drawing his son Tadahiro had done of a red car parked beside a river. He said Tadahiro had an out-of-body experience in which he had gone out through his apartment window and seen a red car when he was sick in bed with a fever. Only a factory can be seen from the apartment, the river on the other side cannot be seen. According to Kamimura, Tadahiro also has the ability to foresee the future. He had made the prediction that Yukie, who runs a yakiniku shop in the neighbourhood, would come and visit just before she came.
Yukawa shows an interest in this case and begins investigating. In the midst of this, Kamimura tells a television variety show that the police disregarded his son's testimony ... ...
Guest stars:
Ishii Masanori as Kurita
Koichi Mantaro as Kamimura
Imai Yuki as Kamimura Tadahiro
Abugawa Mihoko as Yukie

Wow, that's pretty quick seeing that the show had hardly come out the gate yet, but I will say that from the hype I've been hearing, I'd better get these subs sometime this week for Episode 1!
Thanks for the 1-year in advance subbing announcement too, we'll be sure to hold you to your promise.

From the article, it sounds like it was their plan all along, they just delayed the announcement until now.
I was kind of surprised Shibasaki Kou was doing a new dorama series again because she seemed to 'graduate' to movies after Orange Days (Koto was sequel), I guess this is why.

Ep. 2 was kind of disappointing. Once they showed a diagram of the scene in question, any decent high school physics student can probably postulate what might have happened. Because of its simplicity, the plot has to resort to withholding the revelation of important clues until the very end - a cardinal sin in a mystery bacause it is tantamount to cheating. I actually found the bantering between the 2 leads more interesting, and certainly hope the plots will be more challenging in the upcoming episodes.
Off topic - there was a scene of Fukuyama playing racquetball..just curious, is racquetball more popular than squash in Japan (just like in the US west coast), or do Japanese people play squash at all?

^ Well, I don't know...

I was guessing mirage even before seeing the diagram, but I had no idea how that might have happened in that setting. They did show the frozen boots in middle of the episode, and I guess I should've figured out it was from nitrogen leak then (except I only saw the piece he was holding, missed that the white thing in trash was frozen boots). In this show's defense, quoting Galileo-sensei, "I'm not interested in who the murderer is, I'm only interested in how [it was done]."
And yeah... It looks like it's as much about the development of their relationship as the case itself. I guess that's their intention, since they added Shibasaki Kou's female character and made Kusanagi Shunpei (detective who left on first day) a supporting character instead.
In the novel series, Kusanagi was the one trying to solve cases and Utsumi didn't exist.
About the off topic question... What's the difference between racquetball and squash? In the dorama, they actually said "squash" when referring to the sport Yukawa was playing. (but I don't know if they call racquetball "squash" too in Japan)
Was he playing racquetball?

Hmmm...I used to play both, but it's been a while, so I might have gotten confused. The balls used are different; the racquet ball has more bounce. I might have been deceived by the speed of their game because a squash game is much much faster. Also, it's hard to get a good look at the racquet which is also differenct, and on 2nd look the court does seem to resemble a squash court more than a racquetball one. Squash is more popular on the US east coast whereas racquetball is more popular on the west (at least it used to be). Gomen nasai.

I was under the impression that they didn't reveal the incident at the factory until the very end. Did they show the presence of liquid nitrogen tanks in the factory way before the incident was revealed? If so I missed that. Also, I didn't realize the boots were broken due to sub-zero temperature; I guess an expect would have spotted it right away and figured it out. Still, I would prefer if they've given a clue as to why the boot was broken in the first place before the end. Without that, people who don't have access of the boot really have no chance of figuring out the mystery.

I quickly checked it over, and it doesn't look like liquid nitrogen tank was shown before the end.
But Yukawa did discover that piece of boot (usually soft rubber, but that piece was hard as rock) and it was just for a second, but they did show around 2/3 of the boot and indicates that pieces match. You know this is significant because that's when he had that "sudden breakthrough" and started scribbling equations in random place.
I'm not a mystery buff, but maybe it's possible to figure out that they use heavy machinery (the factory manager specifically said they open gate 2 ONLY when hauling heavy machinery into the factory) therefore machinery needs cooling, therefore liquid nitrogen? It sounds very far-fetched as I type this
But I guess somewhat of a clue...

Ep. 3 is a big improvement over ep. 2. They played it fair and there's enough clues to piece together a theory. Just a bit too melodramatic for my taste; albeit probably a fair price to pay considering the star power of the guest involved.
From the preview, ep. 4 looks to be another cracker of a mystery...
im still loading epi 3. but it does looks interesting! this is the first mystery series that i've seen that went into physics. haha!!! cool!
and same here, jus like some of you, i dun really understand epi 2. so he is trying to say... when the hot and cold mix together... hmm.. wat changes? haha! opps :X
