Or maybe, Miura Haruma is just not good enough to fill in Fukuyama-san's shoes? hehe

I believe it.

Haruma is just the current fangirl "flavor of the month," IMO. bleh

^ Yeah, too dependent on looks, and no matter where I see him, I can't take the bastard-coward image from 14sai... out of my head Crazy

I wouldn't say those shoes were very hard to fill... Beaten
Though Fukuyama's looks and the strength/impact of Galileo's character makes him impossible to replace.

Bang Head Bang Head

I never complained about masami nagasawa before, I think she's... OK
But watching him here plainly irritating. She's trying too hard to be.... cute?
And the way she acts reminds me so much of Shida Mirai. The later done it much better Sweat

Yeah, that's a pretty smug look... Makes you wanna slap the smile (and some teeth) off of his face. Twisted

Just watched the special last night. I was quite disappointed as nothing special is there. Just another case which lacks the depth; shallow in storyline. I couldn't even find reason why Masami's character is there as she is--yes, I would not agree less to some of you--just annoying. And one more, I don't understand why the character of Karina's fiance is included in story in the first place.
It's so regrettable that the case is not built more deeply. Though I would praise the character building of Henjin Galileo throughout drama as people now would strongly associate Galileo with Fukuyama Masaharu, the last and the only interesting case was only the one shown in Episode one of the drama series--no more.
Now I long to watch the movie Smile

oh yes.. i totally agree on the point about Karina's fiance. I already forgot that this character exist, until you mentioned it here.

And Masami's role could be easily replaced with any C-grade actress... the character is just so extra.. I don't see the purpose of that character at all.
Well... I still misses Shibasaki... her chemistry with Fukuyama in Galileo is irreplaceable.

Oh.. the theme song for the movie is nice... i hope someone has it to share.. hehe

The backsound on the hut beside the beach, the night Kusanagi tells a story to Masami's (annoying) character is...
very misplaced.
...

IMO Bonk

@ chokakoi, which theme song do you mean? saiai?

Hiya....I'm new here...not really, I've lurked ridiculously for over a year. Anyway...I really loved Galileo. I mean this was one of the best out there.

I saw a lot of people compare it to Trick, but honestly I think they're worlds apart. Besides it being a man and woman pair up, and both men physicist there really is nothing tieing them together. I actually prefer this to Trick.

I liked the main characters and I'm always a sucker for professional UST. Good stuff and due to the fact that I continue to watch it even after seeing it 6 months later, I give this a 10 by 10. Yeah

Anyway, I'm only hoping that there is a sequel to the show and film. Fingers crossed Oh anyone know if there are fanfic writers for Galileo? I've only found 3 totaling about 5 fanfics all together, 4 of which coming from 1 of the writers. hehe

Masami/C-grade actress is a redundancy eh? But yeah, you're right, I just watched the special, it's pretty much a waste of time. And Galileo without Kou is like Trick without Yuki, you gotta have both of them.

Good thing they didn't name the movie Galileo. It hardly bare any resemblance to drama. It flows more like a love story than a crime thriller. Still, it's a good watch. The best scenes had to be between Fukuyama and Tsutsumi

I wondered if Tsutsumi Shinichi really walked into a college to observe how college professors walk. ke ke ke........He looks, walks, sounds exactly like my college professor, warts and all.....and a long term bachelor.

Is it some coincidence or .........Tsutsumi is always paired with either Shibasaki Kou or Matsuyuki Yasuko ?

I thought the movie is quite entertaining as well. Not only does it have a good mystery, it is also a compelling human drama. Fukuyama Masaharu and Shibasaki Kou get top billing, but it's Tsutsumi Shinichi who absolutely owns this movie (and has the meatiest role). It's more like a classic mystery as very little physics is involved (unlike the drama). The script is based on a novel which won the Naoki price in 2006, and from what I've read in other forums the novel is even better. Pacing is a little slow; IMO at least a good 15 minutes can be cut w/o affecting continuity. I watched the version w/ traditional Chinese hardsub; I highly recommend it (despite the pacing problem) if you can find one w/ English sub.

Not sure if this should belong to the Japanese movies thread; if so please move it as appropriate.

On his body yes. Remember his body was covered in clothing and shoes, so they worked as a protective barrier against any damage the cement could do. on his face, not so much. Actually he wouldn't have hair left. Water removes concrete. With enough water it can be manipulated to destroy concrete so removing it from the skin is not a problem although it will take a long time. However his hair would be the problem and I don't think they would be able to deal with that properly.

The Shibasaki Kou pairing was something I noticed as well. I loved their film together and really loved them both in Good Luck! I think there's this unnatural sexual energy between them. But then I noticed SK has that same thing going on with Fukuyama Masaharu. She's good with older men.

I found the eng subs but the timing is off. Waiting for SARS to deal with that.

If you have a multi-region DVD player, there's an official R3 version with Chinese and English subs, and even includes a Cantonese dubbed track (quite surreal as I haven't watched a dubbed Japanese drama since high school). It's in anamorphic widescreen w/ excellent picture and sound, and both sets of subs are excellent as well (ie for sure not Engrishy but also much better then the usual fan subs). I got it on the cheap (relative to R2 Japanese DVDs) from dddhouse.com for around $16 shipped before they increased the price.
