I've seen a symbol in a few animes that looks a little bit like the number "9":
It's worn as a pendant by Iria, in Zeiram, and also by some characters in Ikkitousen (A truly execrable anime. I'm embarrassed to admit I watched a few episodes). It also looks like the symbol on Arjuna's forehead in "Earth Girl Arjuna". And I think I've seen it on the hat or clothes of some shinigami character, but I forget where.
At least in some cases it seems to indicate membership in some group I think.
Does this symbol have any special meaning in Japan? Any info, citations, links?

O.K., don't hit me, but -- and this is whenever I can catch it; which has been, admittedly, quite often of late -- I like to cap my evenings NOT with a perusal of the Asian markets nor some news nor some hip-hop videos that would jar me from pre-sleep status, but with none other than Cowboy Beebop. Interesting characters. Interesting show. I've not seen the motion picture yet.
That ship . . . seems like a neat ship on which to hang out, no?
On an unrelated note . . . and I know it's years old already . . . has anyone out there seen Avalon yet? Is it a good purchase, or should I rent the DVD first?

YUAS1 is good, funny and long. Needed a break from it though so I decided to start watching Mariasama ga Miteru (Lady Mary is watching over us). It's also a good series - no action, no effects, doesnt seem to have a love story, more of just a kohai/sempai relationship in a catholic school. Nicely drawn characters as well.
@vibius: i'm not familiar with the symbol you are referring to. _________________

i 'heard' about Avalon. but only by name. hence i've no idea what on earth it is about.
on a side note, cowboy bebop rocks! it's one of my no. 1s on my list of animes. even though most people i know disagrees with the ending, i would say it's a 'suitable' ending for that char.
i find that hayashibara megumi's voice acting really shines in that anime too. simple yet it totally expresses the character of faye valentine.
oh yea, i just LOVE it when Ed calls faye "faye-faye~"
you should watch the motion picture man. even though i find the ending abit anti-climaxing, it's a must watch for Cowboy Bebop fans. and make sure you watch AFTER the ending credits! there's a small sequence that IMO it's an irony....[you will understand why if you have seen the ending of the normal season]

nope. it isn't her.
the seiyuu for Narusegawa is Horie Yui
Megumi Hayashibara did characters like:-
Lina Inverse - Slayers
Haruka Urashima - Love Hina
Rei Ayanami - Evangelion
Pen-Pen - Evangelion [yes! that penguin!]

Pen-Pen!!!!!!!!!!!
even I can dubbed Pen-Pen
luckily she didn't dubbed the Eva01 itself
Haruka Urashima - Urashima means she's a relative of Keitaro
she can't be the step sister her name was Kanako (right?), or is she the Auntie of keitaro the one w/ the cigarette on her mouth throughout the series. who is she coz, i forgot some names in love hina it's almost 2 yrs. since i watched it.
