From Kawaii Joyuu this week:
"Liar Game: The Final Stage" crossed the one million viewers mark today. Actress Toda Erika (21), actor Matsuda Shota (24) and director Matsuyama Hiroaki (36) went out to celebrate the success at the Shibutoh Cine Tower in Tokyo. "I'm extremely happy," Toda stated on stage. Following the domestic success, the movie has been confirmed to open in six other Asian regions – Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. "I've never imagined it to advance into overseas markets, but I'm looking forward to see how they like it," Toda was delighted after hearing such wonderful news.
The biggest room of Shibutoh has a total of 749 seats and it unsurprisingly was sold out for the event today. Every moviegoer had to hand over their "written invitations" as used in the actual series. The millionth entrant also received a parka signed by Toda and Matsuda. "I knew that the series has some maniac fans, but that it would actually break the millionc I'm very happy," Matsuda commented about the success.
During the talk session they eventually said a few things about the short period they've filmed in Taiwan. Unfortunately only a small part made it into the final product. "I was surprised when people in Taiwan greeted me with 'Nao-chan.' We filmed there for 5 days, but not a lot of people knew about it," Toda revealed. That way there were able to film with too many fans rushing over to the sets. One of the scenes they've filmed there included a scene with a contest between Matsuda and HK actors, but that scene got completely cut out of the movie. It was a difficult scene for Matsuda and he revealed a bit of his bitterness, "It was very hard for me to remember all those English lines and yetc"
The movie is still a success even without those scenes and hopefully it will stay in the top 10 of the box office charts for a couple more weeks. Maybe we will find some deleted scenes on the DVD? _________________

The franchise continues, now with Mana Ashida:
gLIAR GAMEh movie gets spinoff drama starring Ashida Mana
February 23, 2012
The second gLIAR GAMEh movie will get a spinoff television drama on Fuji TV. Titled gAlice in Liar Game,h the spinoff will focus on the past of the character Alice, who is being played by child actress Ashida Mana.
As previously announced, the new gLIAR GAMEh movie stars Matsuda Shota as the brilliant swindler Akiyama Shinichi and Tabe Mikako as a new heroine named Shinomiya Yu. Yu gets involved in a high-stakes game of deception (known as the Liar Game), and Akiyama must help her. Esumi Makiko plays Omega, a member of the Liar Game organization, which has revived the game with the goal of getting revenge against Akiyama for the previous game.
Ashidafs character Alice, another member of the organization, is close to Omega, and she is in charge of everything regarding the new game, including the gamefs structure, the player selection, and the traps used against the players.
The spinoff drama will shed light on the relationship between Omega and Alice, as well as how Alicefs life came to be.
Fuji TV will broadcast the spinoff on four consecutive nights, March 5-8. The movie opens in theaters on March 3.

I just started to watch it, I must admit I'm quite hooked, or at least the five first episodes kept me interested. If I liked the atmosphere, the music, the idea and Matsuda Shota as the cocky-swindler-who-has-a-dark-secret, unfortunately some other things kind of annoyed me : first of all : Erika Toda. Non, non, non. Okay, she's supposed to be a naive girl, but she is SO artificial she really irritates me. So far she's not been the main character but it seems that it's gonna take a u-turn and she'll lead the next ones, uh-ho.

Oh and also the classical-corny part of the evil guy who's explaining his machiavellian plans for 10 minutes of how to ruin and deceive everybody (but oops there is a flaw) was hilarious.
Anyway this dorama has on my opinion an enormous potential, I hope they'll do something good with it. I know the discussion is off for quite long time now but if someone would like to share her/his feelings ,well, I'd be glad to bring some young blood and exchange

Guess I'm sort of biased but I really liked it but found out it does take 2+ viewings of it to really appreciate it more, least for me it helped. The stories pick up a bit after episode 5, first 'story' was the weakest, wait til you get to the finale, it's like 3 hours. _________________

I still have the special episode to watch to get a final opinion about the serie, but I still have mixed feelings about it : bad cast but entertaining story.

This Drama is still missing in the database isn't it??
Run over it while updating my personal database at home and can't find it except in the forum.
It's under the "R"'s as "raiaa geemu". I agree, it should be in the "L"s, but if you go by the katakana then technically being in the "R"s is correct place for it: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1072.htm
