Last Friends is that bad, to revive a almost five-year old thread
The perfect example of taking a strong cast and topics with great potential, then screwing it up completely due to incompetent writing and the desire to attract fangirl attention. Last Friends should be taught in film classes the world over on how to fail miserably. I've also been heavily disappointed by Atsu-hime. Tons of money, beautiful costuming and imagery, and an excellent lead all ruined by writers who forget they needed to write a story, and what little they wrote is fitting for a Disney Channel tv movie.

But you gotta admit it's pulling in the Miley Cyrus and Morning Musume (and their ilk) crowd for mondo ratings.

Oh gosh, am I the only one who liked SOS a lot? xDD I watched it all pretty quickly and never got bored with it. I love Yosuke Kubozuka's acting.
Shows I thought I would like but was disappointed:
-Abarenbo Mama ~ I thought it was kinda cute at first, but then it was just way too boring for me and I hated the guy's curly hair. He looked like Rob Schneider.
-Yukan Club ~ I heard it was really funny and stuff, so I watched the first episode and was not amused at all, so I gave up with it.
-Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu ~ This show just dragged on forever and the main character annoyed me. *--* Everyone said this show was amazing, etc., but I don't think so.

Uh, this thread is about dramas you thought would be good, but ended up being bad, not ones you didn't like.... There is a difference.

It wasn't that bad. More disappointing than bad.
Is there a "JDramas you thought would be bad, but....'' thread?
The way I see it, if a series or movie has so much stacked in it's favor(actors, topic, imagery, etc) and it blows it by squandering it, then it especially deserves to be called bad. Not only did it end up bad, it also wasted all the opportunity to be great. That's double bad.

HAHAHAHAHAH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
just because you guys wanted to put LF name in this thread, you all actually went to search a thread that was 5 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I thought LF was not as bad as it was said to be. I read through the other post in this thread, I thought dramas like Majo no Jouken and Love Generation were much worst... not only did the beginning gave a 'false first impression', they were wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy overrated...
At least I managed to finish all 11 episodes of LF. _________________

Uh, why would I start to watch them in the first place if I knew they were going to be bad? xDD I thought they were going to be good, which is why I started to watch them.

I didn't realize that this was a 5 yr old thread revived
One more LF beating thread by the looks of it!
I don't know why Long Vacation and Liar Game could ended up that badly. They really surprised me from the very end.
Long Vacation? I thought the ending was one of the best one i've seen.

Did anyone expect those to be good in the first place?
The first one (including the special) was entertaining.
umm... the drama that I thought would be good but turn out bad...
Kurosagi - watched it right after Nobuta wo Produce got fooled by Yamapi & Maki. Lovely idea wasted. Waste.
Teppan Shoujo.. Maki making okonomiyaki - Maki :/ (but she's really pretty..)
Food Fight - there was food, Tsuyoshi, talking crow and SMAP gorgeous theme song... but it sucked
KKK 2003 - I should have stopped watching right in the beginning but kept on going.. BAD

Well, i think Hachimitsu to Kuroba fits this thread. the first few episodes seems pretty good with lotsa humour but after that, I just thought that the plot wasnt advancing much. And there doesnt seem to be any ending too.
To digress a little,
If there was a thread "Dramas you thought were bad but turned out pretty good", i think bara no nai hanaya fits it. Started out typical but i love the twist in the show.

Yeah, it was a disappointment for me since I loved the anime, and the movie wasn't so bad. The drama, however, was borderline crappy with bad acting.
I thought Over Time would be good, but, as I wrote in my review, it had a very weak plot and Takashi Sorimachi totally butchered it. Talk about sleepwalking throughout the entire thing. I read there were rumors that he and Esumi Makiko didn't get along on set, but even so he should at least make an effort to not seem so lifeless.
