Kekkon Dekinai Otoko IMHO is the "standard" for sophisticated comedies. Victory! Peace!
Yes, excellent drama. Densha Otoko's first episods were really excellent, it would have made a great 6 episods drama but the plot is too simple to make it a classic renzoku format.

Personally, I enjoyed LAST FRIEND quite a lot. The actors were excellent.

"Hana yori dango" it's quite the opposite: from the plot, you can tell that it's going to be totally stupid, but in the end it's watchable.

smile - first episode seemed interesting, but ive stalled so many times watching this, i dont know when i'll get to finish. it's just too draggy and slow.

That sounds strange to me.

As I remember it, they did a very good job to build up the suspense until second last episode's cliff hanger (which was a good one).
I found it for example refreshing, that they actually waited a couple of episodes until they introduced the main villain. And the fact that our hero is going to commit a crime sooner or later is given to the viewers straight away.

And again, I was really (pleasantly) surprised by the final cliff hanger, I did not expect that in a drama called "Smile". Applaud

I love love love Last Friends, but I admit that it was a disappointment in the end. They could have taken the story so much further, especially in terms of Ryo and Eita's characters (my two favorite in the show!). Sunanare is so similar to last friends, but so much better since it doesn't leave all the holes in the story like last friends did. (in my opinion).

I think what really throws me off when I try to watch it is the fact you know he commits some crime, and it sort of kills me because I watch it expecting the worst out of all the little situations he encounters. It's stressful. The story also seems like it's going nowhere, and im sort of halfway through it. Gonna try to finish it this week, this will be my fourth attempt since the show started airing.. lol

Ryo was awful, a wooden plank.

Though, a lot of the blame goes to the writer, who apparently was a carpenter or worked in the lumber industry.

Ryo's never been very good... But it was quite unusual to see him as the vilain.

He lived up to his lack of talent... And the writers and producers milked every last drop of his presence in the drama... One of the big negatives for LF. bleh

See I thought ryo did that role really well, and i've seen him other stuff and didn't like him as much in them. but, i do agree he can't really act so well.

Buzzer Beat, since me and my brother are interested in basket ball and we are kinda Yamapi fans (even though my brother doesn't watch Jdoramas he still likes to watch Yamapi Jdramas because of ProDai, Kurosagi etc.). So we got popcorn ready, nice seat, alot of free time, okay let's finish Buzzer Beat tonight. We got to episode 6 and realized (actually realized it earlier already) it isn't that good.

Mr.Brain, KimuTaku? Ayase Haruka? Alot of good guests? Seems really tempting to watch plus I love mystery/detective kind of dramas. But somehow KimuTaku trying to act cool in whole drama turned me off and I actually dropped it at episode 8 (the one after Nakama Yukie, forgot which episode it is).

Last Friends, I tried to watch episode 1 3 times and still have never finished episode 1. Alot of popular actors are here, but I only like Ueno Juri. Well Ryo is considered one of JE top tier actors, but I think Yamapi or Toma Ikuta are better.

If Ryo is one of the top tier JE actors, that doesn't say much about the rest.

Well it's true that despite the looks of the JE guys, they are still considered idols. And we all know idols can't sing, dance nor act Bleah
Of course there are exceptions. I think Yamapi, Ohno and Nagase for example are great actors. KimuTaku is decent in some dramas but absolutely the best in Engine (one of the greatest dramas ever for me).
Ryo just tries to act cool too much in an awkward way lol.

Great actors?

YamaP?

No. Shake Head

Of those three mentioned, Nagase is pretty good.

LOL I think Yamapi's pretty much one-dimensional. The only drama he ever impressed me was Nobuta wo Produce. The rest, well, let's just say that his eyes totally dead in most of them. hehe

My top 5 JE actors gotta be Kusanagi, Okada, Nagase, Kimura, Dohmoto Tsuyoshi. Now these people actually do present decent emotion at the very least! Smile

I think there are some quality actors in JE's. Kimutaku comes to mind immediately, as well as Nino. Ohno is a pretty good actor as well, though he doesnt have that many Jdramas under his belt since he did stage-acting for a long time.

As much as i like watching yamapi in dramas, he just cant act. Those DFE show no emotion (except in nobuta, where his DFE surprisingly dont show!)

Kimutaku's acting is descent, but I wouldn't say great. He can be pretty good at being Kimutaku but that's about it. His acting isn't very subtle but he's so busy at being cool that maby he didn't have the opportunity to show all his skills?

Yeah, that's what I think... He seems to play that persona that he's created over the years.

Atashinchi no Danshi is one of those I had hoped would be better. I do like Maki Horikita and I heard this was very good but I think it is only good for fan girls who like all the guys in this. I did not find it that funny or charming. It had it's moments but really it was not as entertaining as I expected based on the hype I had heard at the time. I should have considered the source better.

he could also have a bad case of type-casting, which is what I think. in Tsuki no Koibito his character is more serious and not as happy go lucky nice and he still pulls it off. I dunno.

The opposite kind of happened with me. I thought it would be another over the top comedy like Hanakimi and Meichan no shitsuji (both which i dont like) but i actually found Atashinshi no Danshi pretty cute and entertaining in the end!

Gaiji Keisatsu... damn, I don't think I'll have the strength to watch a second episode... boring to the bone.
