AKB48 to perform at Anime Expo 2010
Anime Expo has announced idol group AKB48 as official Guests of Honor at this year's convention. They will perform a concert at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on July 1, as well as participate in panels, meet-and-greets, and autograph sessions.
AKB48 made their U.S. debut last year, when part of the group attended New York Anime Festival. It has not yet been announced which members of AKB48 will be attending Anime Expo.
Anime Expo 2010 is being held July 1-4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
"i need to rid of my AKB48 photo collection,
who are your favorites? and how much do you want the pix for?
i need $ as I am greatly on a budget, and AKB48 has no value to me anymore."
You gotta wonder...
I had very good reasons to give up AKB48, and to me it was just something for awhile, like a hobby, but only like eye-candy, but not a good investment of my time. The girls were very cute, and I cannot ever forget meeting Mariko Shinoda who i still have as my avatar, i met her in Japan, which was amazing. I cannot believe she is still in AKB48, she should move on, and retire at 24.
So, I clearly passed on going to Anime Expo this year, and lost interest completely. I did however go last year and saw Morning Musume.

AKB48 gets "dating fantasy game" on PSP
Tue, September 14, 2010 (11:33am EDT)
Bandai Namco Games announced on Tuesday that it is publishing a video game based on popular idol group AKB48. Titled "AKB 1/48 Idol to Koi Shitara...," this is the first official game to revolve around the group.
The game is described as the "ultimate dating fantasy game," featuring 48 members of AKB48. All of them will confess their love for the player, but along the way, the player will have to turn down 47 of them one by one in order to end up with the girl of their choice. The game is said to include more than 10,000 images of the AKB48 members, plus more than 80 minutes worth of video of the members confessing their feelings. All of their lines are said to be fully voice-recorded.
"AKB 1/48" is being released for the PlayStation Portable platform on December 23. Besides the standard edition, there will be three other versions: a limited-time edition with three member photos and a video UMD of footage that was not used in the game; another limited edition with the video UMD, 2 making-of DVDs, photos, and other goods; and a Premier Special Pack which contains all of those extras plus a specially-made PSP (designated as the PSP-3000AKB model) that has a kiss mark on the battery cover.

Young Idol Date Scandal Ends In Resignation, Tears
Earlier this month, 56-year-old Sakura Wars co-creator Hiroji Oji was spotted staying over at 22-year-old AKB48 singer Sayaka Akimoto's residence. The scandal that ensued made the papers and the morning talk shows.
Both denied that there was any hanky panky. The tabloid that broke the story, however, claimed that the lights in Akimoto's abode were quickly turned off upon arrival.
For more information as to why this is a big deal in the idol world, please refer to this post.
Sayaka takes full responsibility for the ensuing scandal. She says that since Oji is a stage director that she respects, she has asked for his help regarding a theatrical performance since summer.
"I've been to his house, and he has been to my house," Sayaka explains. "I did not think anything of it, because Hiroi-san lives with his daughter, and I live with Ayaka Umeda. Moreover, since Hiroi-san is older than my father, I have never thought of him as a guy."
Ayaka Umeda is a fellow AKB48 member.
The day that Oji slept over, Sayaka says that he fell asleep while discussing acting, so she and Umeda decided to let him sleep.
"I am woeful that it sounds like I'm making excuses. I'm sorry for all the fans who support me, and also for AKB members... I'm sorry," she adds. "This became such a big issue, and it is all my fault."
AKB48 is divided in to three separate teams (A team, K team and B team). Being the team captain is one of the highest positions in the group, and Sayaka is forfeiting her role in K team. "I should be the role model for other members, but I'm not qualified as a captain anymore," she explains. "Therefore, I will resign as the captain of team K."

^ Was it really the director or some stalker?
Apparently it was really the director. Sounds like much ado about nothing but you know how it goes when a story like this breaks in the Japanese tabloids.
I'm sure there are six gazillion fans wailing and gnashing their teeth right now.
